This paper discusses elements for building a comprehensive platform for an inflation forecasting framework. It describes the exercise of forecasting inflation as a production process, which induces a strict discipline concerning data management, information gathering, the use of a suitable statistical apparatus, and the exercise of sound communication strategies to reinforce reputation and credibility. It becomes critical how a central bank organizes itself to produce relevant macroeconomic forecasts, with special consideration to product design, the essential requirements needed in the forecasting process, and key related organizational issues. In addition, the paper proposes to factor into the process the authorities' policy responses to previous inflation forecasts in order to be consistent with the spirit of the inflation targeting framework. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/122 606 $aInflation (Finance)$xForecasting 606 $aMonetary policy 606 $aBanks and banking, Central 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aCentral bank policy rate$2imf 606 $aDeflation$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aEconomic Forecasting$2imf 606 $aEconomic forecasting$2imf 606 $aForecasting and Other Model Applications$2imf 606 $aForecasting$2imf 606 $aInflation targeting$2imf 606 $aInflation$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aMonetary Policy$2imf 606 $aMonetary policy$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aPrice Level$2imf 606 $aPrices$2imf 607 $aNew Zealand$2imf 615 0$aInflation (Finance)$xForecasting. 615 0$aMonetary policy. 615 0$aBanks and banking, Central. 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aCentral bank policy rate 615 7$aDeflation 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aEconomic Forecasting 615 7$aEconomic forecasting 615 7$aForecasting and Other Model Applications 615 7$aForecasting 615 7$aInflation targeting 615 7$aInflation 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aMonetary Policy 615 7$aMonetary policy 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aPrice Level 615 7$aPrices 700 $aKisinbay$b Turgut$01816661 701 $aCanales Kriljenko$b Jorge$01816341 701 $aMaino$b Rodolfo$01623199 701 $aParrado$b Eric$01816235 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bMonetary and Financial Systems Dept. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910956788803321 996 $aSetting the Operational Framework for Producing Inflation Forecasts$94372935 997 $aUNINA
