CONCLUSIONS""; ""Data Issues and Methodology""; ""References"" 330 3 $aThe paper examines the evolution of public sector debt levels and structures in 12 emerging market countries around the time of financial crises. In particular, it focuses on whether the debt situation of sovereign borrowers became more vulnerable in the aftermath of crises. The principal findings are that (i) debt levels tend to increase significantly post-crisis, and (ii) countries often experience more rigid debt structures following such events, with an increase in the share of external public debt to multilateral creditors and a greater exposure of the domestic banking system to sovereign debt. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/186 606 $aDebts, Public 606 $aFinancial crises 606 $aDebt Management$2imf 606 $aDebt$2imf 606 $aDebts, External$2imf 606 $aDebts, Public$2imf 606 $aDomestic debt$2imf 606 $aEconomic & financial crises & disasters$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aExternal debt$2imf 606 $aFinancial Crises$2imf 606 $aFinancial crises$2imf 606 $aFinancial Risk Management$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aInternational Lending and Debt Problems$2imf 606 $aPublic and publicly-guaranteed external debt$2imf 606 $aPublic debt$2imf 606 $aPublic finance & taxation$2imf 606 $aPublic Finance$2imf 606 $aSovereign Debt$2imf 607 $aUruguay$2imf 615 0$aDebts, Public. 615 0$aFinancial crises. 615 7$aDebt Management 615 7$aDebt 615 7$aDebts, External 615 7$aDebts, Public 615 7$aDomestic debt 615 7$aEconomic & financial crises & disasters 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aExternal debt 615 7$aFinancial Crises 615 7$aFinancial crises 615 7$aFinancial Risk Management 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aInternational Lending and Debt Problems 615 7$aPublic and publicly-guaranteed external debt 615 7$aPublic debt 615 7$aPublic finance & taxation 615 7$aPublic Finance 615 7$aSovereign Debt 700 $aRother$b Bjoern$01816486 701 $ade Bolle$b Monica$01816487 701 $aHakobyan$b Ivetta$01816488 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910956116003321 996 $aThe Level and Composition of Public Sector Debt in Emerging Market Crises$94372597 997 $aUNINA
