A Summit on America's Climate Choices was convened on March 30-31, 2009, to help frame the study, provide an opportunity for high-level participation and input on key issues, and hear about relevant work carried out by others. The Panel on Limiting the Magnitude of Future Climate Change was charged to describe, analyze, and access strategies for reducing the net future human influence on climate, including both technology and policy options. The Panel on Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change was charged to describe, analyze, and assess actions and strategies to reduce vulnerability, increase adaptive capacity, improve resilience, and promote successful adaptation to climate change in different regions, sectors, systems, and populations. The Panel on Advancing the Science of Climate Change was charged to provide a concise overview of current understanding of past, present, and future climate change, including its cause and its impact, then recommend steps to advance our current understanding, including new observations, research programs, next-generation models, and the physical and human assets needed to support these and other activities. The Panel on Informing Effective Decisions and Actions Related to Climate Change was charged to describe and assess different activities, products, strategies, and tools for informing decision makers about climate change and helping them plan and execute effective, integrated responses--$cSource other than Library of Congress. 606 $aClimatic changes 607 $aUnited States$xEnvironmental conditions 615 0$aClimatic changes. 676 $a363.73874 712 02$aNational Research Council (U.S.).$bCommittee on America's Climate Choices. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910781333303321 996 $aAmerica's Climate choices$93709003 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04647oam 22005172 450 001 9910956048003321 005 20251002160808.0 010 $a1-351-18639-6 010 $a1-351-18637-X 035 $a(CKB)4100000010264399 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6108952 035 $a(OCoLC)1120088458$z(OCoLC)1119744597$z(OCoLC)1119750257 035 $a(OCoLC-P)1120088458 035 $a(FlBoTFG)9781351186391 035 $a(CaSebORM)9781351186377 035 $a(OCoLC)1291278494 035 $a(OCoLC-P)1291278494 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000010264399 100 $a20191110d2020 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aDirecting $efilm techniques and aesthetics /$fMichael Rabiger and Mick Hurbis-Cherrier ; illustrated by Gustavo Mercado 205 $aSixth edition. 210 1$aLondon ;$aNew York :$cRoutledge,$d2020. 215 $a1 online resource (xxi, 582 pages) 300 $aIncludes index. 311 08$a0-8153-9430-6 327 $aThe world of the film director -- Developing as a director -- Essential elements of drama -- Shaping the story into drama -- Plot, time, and structure -- Screenplay ground rules -- Recognizing the superior screenplay -- Script analysis and development -- Cinematic point of view -- Form and style -- Tone, style and genre -- Film language -- The frame and the shot -- The moving camera -- Language of the edit -- The human vantage of cinematic language -- Exploring the script -- Casting -- Acting fundamentals -- Directing actors -- Rehearsals -- Acting exercise -- Planning the visual design -- Developing the shooting script -- Line producing and logistics -- Developing a production crew -- The director and production tech -- On set : production begins -- Directing on the set -- Monitoring continuity and progress -- Postproduction overview -- Editing begins : getting to know the footage -- The rough cut -- Getting to fine cut and picture lock -- Working with music -- The finishing touches -- Getting it out there. 330 $a"Directing: Film Techniques and Aesthetics is a comprehensive exploration into the art and craft of directing for film and television. It's filled with practical advice, essential technical information, and inspiring case studies for every stage of production. This book covers the methods, technologies, thought processes, and judgments that a director must use throughout the fascinating process of making a film, and concentrates on developing the human aspects of cinema to connect with audiences. The fully revised and updated 6th edition features new sections on using improvisation, the development of characters for long form television series, visual design, the role of the digital imaging technician, film promotion and distribution, alongside expanded information on contemporary color grading tools, stylistic approaches and genre, workflows, blocking scenes for the camera and more. The book emphasizes independent and short form cinema which allows cutting-edge creativity and professionalism on shoestring budgets. Recognizing that you learn best by doing, it includes dozens of practical hands-on projects and activities to help you master technical and conceptual skills. Just as important as surmounting technological hurdles is the conceptual and authorial side of filmmaking. This book provides an unusually clear view of the artistic process, particularly in working with actors and principle crew members. It offers eminently practical tools and exercises to help you develop your artistic identity, find credible and compelling stories, choose and work with your cast and hone your narrative skills. Directing shows you how to surpass mere technical proficiency and become a storyteller with a distinctive voice and style. The accompanying companion website includes film analysis exercises, shooting projects, checklists and assignment forms, analytical questionnaires, updated production forms and logs for all phases of a project with links to additional resources and set safety advice"--$cProvided by publisher. 606 $aMotion pictures$xProduction and direction 606 $aMotion pictures$xAesthetics 615 0$aMotion pictures$xProduction and direction. 615 0$aMotion pictures$xAesthetics. 676 $a791.430232 700 $aRabiger$b Michael$01846341 702 $aHurbis-Cherrier$b Mick 702 $aMercado$b Gustavo 801 0$bOCoLC-P 801 1$bOCoLC-P 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910956048003321 996 $aDirecting$94430641 997 $aUNINA
