Although both groups were labeled "Jews," their internal definitions of what constituted being Jewish and their personal experiences were radically different. Using both archival and contemporary oral histories, Betty N. Hoffman traces the stories of real people whose lives and choices were affected by both their ethnic identity and the larger movements around them as they made new homes in the United States. 410 0$aSUNY Series in Oral and Public History 606 $aImmigrants$zConnecticut$zHartford$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aJews$xMigrations 606 $aJews$zConnecticut$zHartford$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aJews$zConnecticut$zHartford$xIdentity 606 $aJews$zSoviet Union$xHistory 606 $aJews$zSoviet Union$xIdentity 606 $aJews, Soviet$zConnecticut$zHartford 607 $aHartford (Conn.)$xEthnic relations 607 $aSoviet Union$xEthnic relations 615 0$aImmigrants$xHistory 615 0$aJews$xMigrations. 615 0$aJews$xHistory 615 0$aJews$xIdentity. 615 0$aJews$xHistory. 615 0$aJews$xIdentity. 615 0$aJews, Soviet 676 $a974.6/3004924 700 $aHoffman$b Betty N$01808970 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910955838203321 996 $aJewish hearts$94359506 997 $aUNINA LEADER 10622nam 2200685 a 450 001 9910953845803321 005 20251017110116.0 010 $a9786610203963 010 $a9781280203961 010 $a128020396X 010 $a9780309583091 010 $a0309583098 010 $a9780585084749 010 $a0585084742 035 $a(CKB)111004366659578 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000200605 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11168609 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000200605 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10220928 035 $a(PQKB)11668845 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3376121 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL3376121 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10055115 035 $a(OCoLC)923261285 035 $a(Perlego)4736230 035 $a(DNLM)708187 035 $a(EXLCZ)99111004366659578 100 $a19901105d1991 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aMedicare--new directions in quality assurance $eproceedings of an invitational conference /$fby the Institute of Medicine, Division of Health Care Services ; Molla S.
