The conventional method of repairing or strengthening aging metallic structures often involves bulky and heavy plates that are difficult to fix and prone to corrosion, as well as to their own fatigue. Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) has great potential in strengthening metallic structures, such as bridges, buildings, offshore platforms, pipelines, and crane structures. The existing knowledge of the carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP)- concrete composite system may not be applicable to the CFRP-steel system because of the distinct difference between the debonding mechanism of the former and latter, alongside the unique failure modes for steel members and connections. Several design and practice guides on FRP strengthening of metallic structures were published in the UK, United States, Italy, and Japan. However, the following topics are not covered in detail: bond behaviour between FRP and steel, strengthening of compression members, strengthening of steel tubular members, strengthening against web crippling of steel sections, and strengthening for enhanced fatigue and seismic performance. The present book not only contains descriptions and explanations of basic concepts and summarises the research performed to date on the FRP strengthening of metallic structures, but also provides some design recommendations. Comprehensive, topical references appear throughout the book. It is suitable for structural engineers, researchers, and university students who are interested in the FRP strengthening technique"--$cProvided by publisher. 410 0$aSpon research. 606 $aBuilding, Iron and steel$xMaterials 606 $aBuildings$xMaintenance$xMaterials 606 $aFiber-reinforced plastics 606 $aAdhesives 615 0$aBuilding, Iron and steel$xMaterials. 615 0$aBuildings$xMaintenance$xMaterials. 615 0$aFiber-reinforced plastics. 615 0$aAdhesives. 676 $a624.1/8923 686 $aTEC009020$aTEC021000$aTEC063000$2bisacsh 700 $aZhao$b Xiao-Ling$0627390 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910953619503321 996 $aFRP-strengthened metallic structures$94333736 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02584nam 2200625 a 450 001 9910968451303321 005 20241107095048.0 010 $a1-118-31546-4 010 $a1-282-24186-9 010 $a9786613812988 010 $a1-118-31545-6 035 $a(CKB)2670000000231126 035 $a(EBL)875840 035 $a(OCoLC)822029648 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000695013 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12282606 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000695013 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10672203 035 $a(PQKB)11702630 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC875840 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL875840 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10583375 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL381298 035 $a(ODN)ODN0001007067 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000231126 100 $a20120308d2012 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 14$aThe book of business awesome $ehow engaging your customers and employees can make your business thrive ; The book of business unawesome : the cost of not listening, engaging, or being great at what you do /$fScott Stratten 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aHoboken, N.J. $cJohn Wiley & Sons, Inc.$dc2012 215 $a1 online resource (274 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a1-118-31522-7 327 $aHow one man changed a billion-dollar brand -- Marketing is a verb -- Remarry your current customers -- The sun rises online. 330 $aUnAwesome is UnAcceptable.
