In this publication, which is part of the "Le Perline del Museo" series of the Natural History Museum of the University of Florence, the concept of "gold" is explored from several points of view. The book is divided into 11 chapters dealing with gold from various points of view: its chemical-physical properties, how and where it can be found in nature, the mineralogy of gold, the processes to extract it, what can be done with gold and gold over the centuries, up to a brief description of the California "gold rush" of the late nineteenth century. The publication is enriched with beautiful images of gold in all its forms. For the realisation of the publication, the author collaborated with the American Museum of Natural History (New York, USA), the Museum of the City of San Francisco (San Francisco, USA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, USA). 606 $aMineralogy & gems$2bicssc 606 $aRocks, minerals & fossils$2bicssc 610 $aChimica 610 $aStoria 610 $aScienze naturali 610 $aMuseo di storia naturale 610 $aFirenze 615 7$aMineralogy & gems 615 7$aRocks, minerals & fossils 700 $aBINDI$b LUCA$4auth$0890814 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910571771603321 996 $aOro$92950494 997 $aUNINA LEADER 06413nam 22008175 450 001 9910921015803321 005 20250530190713.0 010 $a9783031700644 010 $a3031700643 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-031-70064-4 035 $a(CKB)37122983400041 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC31869528 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL31869528 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-031-70064-4 035 $a(OCoLC)1484073771 035 $a(EXLCZ)9937122983400041 100 $a20250102d2024 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aBody Language Communication /$fedited by Derek Chadee, Aleksandra Kosti? 205 $a1st ed. 2024. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer Nature Switzerland :$cImprint: Palgrave Macmillan,$d2024. 215 $a1 online resource (518 pages) 311 08$a9783031700637 311 08$a3031700635 327 $a1. Body Language Between Humans and Machines. 330 $a"This insightful and ground-breaking volume, a who's who of scholars provide a comprehensive, state-of-the-art introduction to the outsized role which body language plays in human communication. Whether you're a researcher, student, or simply curious about the hidden aspects of everyday interactions, this book will transform your understanding of how we convey and interpret meaning beyond words". - Robert S. Feldman, Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Senior Advisor to the Chancellor, University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA. "Both scholars and students will find Body Language Communication to be an invaluable resource for the most recent research focused on non-verbal behavior. Some chapters (each authored by distinguished scholars) focus on commonly studied areas like the face or voice, but others open less studied areas like posture and human-machine interaction. The information in this volume, coupled with what we know about verbal behavior, will go a long way toward helping the next generation of scholars to better understand the true nature of human interaction". - Dr. Mark L. Knapp, Jesse H. Jones Centennial Professor Emeritus of Communication and UT Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus, USA. This book explores a number of important themes within body language discourse. The authors analyse the role of hands, touch, facial expression, misconceptions, and fallacious arguments in body language training. Other issues addressed include body language between humans and machines, lie detection, reactance and body language and thermography of the face. The authors work to determine various potentials of body language, and assess some areas of body language and role of body language in everyday life. They also discuss new perspectives and future directions in body language studies.
