Opening the Debate. 330 $aThis open access book explains why southern European countries with significant Muslim communities have experienced few religiously inspired violent attacks - or have avoided the kind of securitised response to such attacks seen in many other Western states. The authors provide a unique contribution to the literature on violent extremism - which has traditionally focused on countries such as France, the US and the UK - by studying the causes of relatively low rates of radicalisation in Greece, Italy and Spain. The book explores many of the dynamics between (non) radicalisation and issues such as socioeconomic inequality, experiences of conflict, and systemic racism and other forms of discrimination. It establishes a new analytical framework for the development of, and resilience against, violent radicalisation in the region and beyond. Tina Magazzini is a Distinguished Fellow at the University of A Coruņa, a Research Associate at the Interuniversity Centre for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes and at the Czech Academy of Sciences. Marina Eleftheriadou is Assistant Professor at Neapolis University Pafos and Consulting Editor at the Centre for Mediterranean, Middle East and Islamic Studies. Anna Triandafyllidou is a Full Professor and holds the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration at Toronto Metropolitan University. 410 0$aRethinking Political Violence,$x2752-8596 606 $aPeace 606 $aTerrorism 606 $aPolitical violence 606 $aIdentity politics 606 $aReligion and politics 606 $aEurope$xPolitics and government 606 $aPeace and Conflict Studies 606 $aTerrorism and Political Violence 606 $aIdentity Politics 606 $aPolitics and Religion 606 $aEuropean Politics 615 0$aPeace. 615 0$aTerrorism. 615 0$aPolitical violence. 615 0$aIdentity politics. 615 0$aReligion and politics. 615 0$aEurope$xPolitics and government. 615 14$aPeace and Conflict Studies. 615 24$aTerrorism and Political Violence. 615 24$aIdentity Politics. 615 24$aPolitics and Religion. 615 24$aEuropean Politics. 676 $a327.1 700 $aMagazzini$b Tina$01780225 701 $aEleftheriadou$b Marina$01780226 701 $aTriandafyllidou$b Anna$0892101 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910907194703321 996 $aThe Non-Radicalisation of Muslims in Southern Europe$94303895 997 $aUNINA
