The author argues that by looking at the history of social sciences in this manner, we gain a deeper understanding of both our present debates on post-secularity as well as our modernist past, both of which were thoroughly shaped by their reflections and critiques on the notion of belief yet failed to enter into any sort of meaningful communication with each other. This book seeks to rectify this failure by introducing the concept of 'belief-languages', an anthropological framework designed to historicize different discussions on belief and allow for their comparative description and analysis. Michiel Van Dam is an intellectual historian, specializing in the historical anthropology of techniques of self-historicization and -government during (early) modernity. He is currently affiliated with the University of Antwerp as a post-doctoral researcher. 606 $aSociology 606 $aReligion and sociology 606 $aSociology$xPhilosophy 606 $aAnthropology of religion 606 $aIntellectual life$xHistory 606 $aSociological Theory 606 $aSociology of Religion 606 $aPhilosophy of Sociology 606 $aAnthropology of Religion 606 $aIntellectual History 615 0$aSociology. 615 0$aReligion and sociology. 615 0$aSociology$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aAnthropology of religion. 615 0$aIntellectual life$xHistory. 615 14$aSociological Theory. 615 24$aSociology of Religion. 615 24$aPhilosophy of Sociology. 615 24$aAnthropology of Religion. 615 24$aIntellectual History. 676 $a301.01 700 $aVan Dam$b Michiel$01770306 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910890178103321 996 $aLanguages of Belief and Early Sociology in Nineteenth-Century France$94249087 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01668nam 2200493zu 450 001 9911006697203321 005 20210807004917.0 010 $a1-68015-276-9 035 $a(CKB)3710000000336838 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001421824 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12520526 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001421824 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11424761 035 $a(PQKB)10921117 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000336838 100 $a20160829d2013 uy 101 0 $aeng 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aDesign of reinforced concrete structures 210 31$a[Place of publication not identified]$cOxford University Press$d2013 225 0 $aOxford higher education Design of reinforced concrete structures 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 $a0-19-808694-6 606 $aReinforced concrete construction$vTextbooks 606 $aPrestressed concrete construction$vTextbooks 606 $aStructural analysis (Engineering)$vTextbooks 606 $aCivil & Environmental Engineering$2HILCC 606 $aEngineering & Applied Sciences$2HILCC 606 $aCivil Engineering$2HILCC 615 0$aReinforced concrete construction 615 0$aPrestressed concrete construction 615 0$aStructural analysis (Engineering) 615 7$aCivil & Environmental Engineering 615 7$aEngineering & Applied Sciences 615 7$aCivil Engineering 676 $a624.1/8341 700 $aSubramanian$b N$01823618 801 0$bPQKB 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911006697203321 996 $aDesign of reinforced concrete structures$94390387 997 $aUNINA
