Designed to promote the idea of the value of music in the early childhood years, the research discussed in this book explores the experiences of a number of adults working with children from birth to age 8. The initiatives discussed in this work all focus on adults who have encouraged the development of musical identities ranging from music in the home, to musical play in the preschool years, preparing a performance with children, and programs for disadvantaged groups that use music as a communicative tool. Each chapter will start with a description of the particular setting and the protagonists? specific skills and interests and how they came to be working with young children. Themes for the chapters have emerged from the videos and interviews conducted and consist of both reflective and affective experience. The themes include musical background, the adults' own stories, theories of childhood, and pedagogy and philosophy. 410 0$aInternational Perspectives on Early Childhood Education and Development,$x2468-8754 ;$v33 606 $aEarly childhood education 606 $aArt$xStudy and teaching 606 $aEthnopsychology 606 $aMusic 606 $aArts 606 $aEarly Childhood Education 606 $aCreativity and Arts Education 606 $aCross-Cultural Psychology 606 $aMusic 606 $aArts 615 0$aEarly childhood education. 615 0$aArt$xStudy and teaching. 615 0$aEthnopsychology. 615 0$aMusic. 615 0$aArts. 615 14$aEarly Childhood Education. 615 24$aCreativity and Arts Education. 615 24$aCross-Cultural Psychology. 615 24$aMusic. 615 24$aArts. 676 $a372.87 700 $aAcker$b Aleksandra$0860168 702 $aNyland$b Berenice 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910863155303321 996 $aAdult Perspectives on Children and Music in Early Childhood$94166861 997 $aUNINA
