Novaes analyses labor practices from a critical Marxist perspective as a reaction to the misery of neoliberalism. Deindustrialization, austerity programs, increasing commodification and international competitiveness have severely deteriorated the living and working conditions of the majority of Latin Americans. However, alternative labor, production and educational practices have developed in this increasingly ruthless neoliberal capitalism. Although they are still small, they indicate a potential way out of the capitalist mode of production. Novaes directs his special attention to the ?education beyond capital,? which has accompanied these alternative labor and production practices (from alternative job training in recuperated companies and the movement of landless rural workers MST). Henrique Tahan Novaes is Professor of Philosophy and Sciences at UNESP Marília São Paulo, Brazil. 606 $aPolitical science 606 $aPolitical science$xPhilosophy 606 $aMarxian school of sociology 606 $aMarxian economics 606 $aLatin America$xHistory 606 $aPolitical Theory 606 $aPolitical Philosophy 606 $aMarxist Sociology 606 $aMarxist Economics 606 $aLatin American History 615 0$aPolitical science. 615 0$aPolitical science$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aMarxian school of sociology. 615 0$aMarxian economics. 615 0$aLatin America$xHistory. 615 14$aPolitical Theory. 615 24$aPolitical Philosophy. 615 24$aMarxist Sociology. 615 24$aMarxist Economics. 615 24$aLatin American History. 676 $a331.0981 700 $aNovaes$b Henrique T.$01771200 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910857792403321 996 $aAssociated Labor and Production in the Age of Barbarism$94257000 997 $aUNINA
