It begins by illustrating how widespread anti-Jewish feelings were among the Christian population in 19 th century, focusing on blood libel accusations as well as describing the role of modern antisemitism. Secondly, it tries to identify the structural preconditions as well as specific triggers that turned anti-Jewish feelings into collective violence and analyzes the nature of this violence. Lastly, pogroms in Lithuania are compared to anti-Jewish violence in other regions of the Russian Empire and East Galicia. This research is inspired by the cultural turn in social sciences, an approach that assumes that violence is filled with meaning, which is ?culturally constructed, discursively mediated, symbolically saturated, and ritually regulated.? The author argues that pogroms in Lithuania instead followed a communal pattern of ethnic violence and was very different from deadly pogroms in other parts of the Russian Empire. 410 0$aHistorical studies in Eastern Europe and Eurasia ;$vVolume 3. 606 $aAntisemitism$zLithuania$xHistory$y19th century 606 $aJews$zLithuania$xHistory$y19th century 607 $aLithuania$xEthnic relations 610 $aAntisemitism, Ethnic relations, History, Jews, Political persecution, Lithuania, Belarus. 615 0$aAntisemitism$xHistory 615 0$aJews$xHistory 676 $a305.892/40479309034 700 $aStaliu?nas$b Darius$01093056 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910797289003321 996 $aEnemies for a day$93842494 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02744nam 22004213 450 001 9910838371803321 005 20231102080227.0 010 $a84-11-70510-2 035 $a(CKB)28467300800041 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC30835657 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL30835657 035 $a(NjHacI)9928467300800041 035 $a(EXLCZ)9928467300800041 100 $a20231102d2022 uy 0 101 0 $aspa 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aEl Impacto de la Guerra de Ucrania en el Norte de África y Oriente Medio 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aMadrid :$cDykinson, S.L.,$d2022. 210 4$d©2023. 215 $a1 online resource (184 pages) 311 $a9788411704335 327 $aFront Matter(pp. 1-6) -- Table of Contents(pp. 7-12) -- 1.
