In the developed world stroke accounts for around 10 per cent of all deaths and is the most important single cause of severe disability among western people living in their own homes. Futhermore, in the next 30 years, the burden of stroke will grow substantially in most developing nations. There is now substantial evidence that dietary habits not only influence the prevalence of stroke, but also its course and outcome once it has occurred. Although acclaimed in her day, Campiglia (1553-95) has not benefited from the recent wave of scholarship that has done much to enhance the visibility and reputation of contemporaries such as Isabella Andreini, Moderata Fonte, and Veronica Franco. As this bilingual, first-ever critical edition of Flori illustrates, this neglect is decidedly unwarranted. Flori is a work of great literary and cultural interest, noteworthy in particular for the intensity of its focus on the experiences and perceptions of its female protagonists and their ideals of female autonomy. Flori will be read by those involved in the study of early modern literature and drama, women's studies, and the study of gender and sexuality in this period. 410 0$aOther voice in early modern Europe. 606 $aPastoral drama, Italian 615 0$aPastoral drama, Italian. 676 $a851/.4 700 $aCampiglia$b Maddalena$f1553-1595.$01808516 701 $aCox$b Virginia$0221360 701 $aSampson$b Lisa$0789353 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910964999803321 996 $aFlori, a pastoral drama$94358783 997 $aUNINA
