This aesthetic and functional work is characterized by a unique decorative style and superb technical artistry. Many of the artefacts are embellished with mysterious visual narratives drawn from ancient religious and mythological sources, communicating spiritual beliefs and values that resonate to this day. Burmese silverwork is a distinct and little-known genre of silver art. This book tackles this obscurity by illuminating and describing for the first time 100 Burmese silver artefacts in a stunning photographic gallery. This silverwork - from the Noble Silver Collection - represents some of the rarest and finest quality work from the Burmese Silver Age. The centrepiece gallery of silverwork masterpieces is bookended by two well-illustrated and informative chapters that provide readers with deeper insights into Burmese silverwork: a robust frame of reference chapter summarises the 2,000-year history and cultural tradition of Burmese silverwork; and a chapter following the gallery deciphers the complex and allegorical iconography of the decoration, which gives the reader a deeper appreciation of its religious and cultural meaning and origin. This book captures the great, almost mystical, allure of Burmese silverwork - from the sublime artistry of the decoration, to the extraordinary skill of the silversmith and the profound meaning and importance of the visual narratives. In doing so, Burmese Silver Art takes its place as a definitive reference work for any art historian, collector, expert, student, or general reader interested in this hitherto-overlooked body of noble art. 517 $aBurmese Silver Art 606 $aSilverwork$zBurma$xHistory$y19th century 606 $aSymbolism in art 606 $aBuddhist art and symbolism$zBurma 606 $aHindu art$zBurma 606 $aArt and mythology 615 0$aSilverwork$xHistory 615 0$aSymbolism in art. 615 0$aBuddhist art and symbolism 615 0$aHindu art 615 0$aArt and mythology. 676 $a739.23809591 700 $aOwens$b David C$01686717 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910828079303321 996 $aBurmese Silver Art$94059695 997 $aUNINA LEADER 06678nam 22008535 450 001 9910484744403321 005 20251226203725.0 024 7 $a10.1007/11537878 035 $a(CKB)1000000000213176 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000320516 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11937789 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000320516 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10248080 035 $a(PQKB)11396833 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-540-31796-8 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3068002 035 $a(PPN)123096707 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000213176 100 $a20100719d2005 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn#008mamaa 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aTrust, Privacy, and Security in Digital Business $eSecond International Conference, TrustBus 2005, Copenhagen, Denmark, August 22-26, 2005, Proceedings /$fedited by Sokratis Katsikas, Günther Pernul 205 $a1st ed. 2005. 210 1$aBerlin, Heidelberg :$cSpringer Berlin Heidelberg :$cImprint: Springer,$d2005. 215 $a1 online resource (XII, 332 p.) 225 1 $aSecurity and Cryptology,$x2946-1863 ;$v3592 300 $aBibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph 311 08$a3-540-31796-1 311 08$a3-540-28224-6 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aInvited Talk -- Privacy Enhanced Technologies: Methods ? This conference was the successor to the successful TrustBus 2004 conference, held in 2004 in conjunction with the DEXA conferences in Zaragoza. It was our goal that this event would be a forum to bring together researchers from academia and commercial developers from industry to discuss the state of the art of technology for establishing trust, privacy, and security in digital business. We thank the attendees for coming to Copenhagen to participate and debate the new emerging advances in this area. The workshop program consisted of one invited talk and 11 regular technical paper sessions. The invited talk and keynote speech was delivered by Hannes Federrath from the Chair for Management of Information Security at the University of Regensburg, Germany, on ?Privacy Enhanced Technology, Methods ? Markets ? Misuse?. A paper covering his talk is also contained in this book. The regular paper sessions covered a broad range of topics, from access control issues to electronic auctioning, from trust and protocols to smart cards. The conference attracted over 100 submissions of which the Program Committee accepted 32 papers for presentation and inclusion in the conference proceedings. The authors of the accepted papers come from 16 different countries. The proceedings contain the revised versions of all accepted papers. 410 0$aSecurity and Cryptology,$x2946-1863 ;$v3592 606 $aComputers and civilization 606 $aElectronic data processing$xManagement 606 $aComputer networks 606 $aOperating systems (Computers) 606 $aCryptography 606 $aData encryption (Computer science) 606 $aBusiness information services 606 $aComputers and Society 606 $aIT Operations 606 $aComputer Communication Networks 606 $aOperating Systems 606 $aCryptology 606 $aIT in Business 615 0$aComputers and civilization. 615 0$aElectronic data processing$xManagement. 615 0$aComputer networks. 615 0$aOperating systems (Computers). 615 0$aCryptography. 615 0$aData encryption (Computer science). 615 0$aBusiness information services. 615 14$aComputers and Society. 615 24$aIT Operations. 615 24$aComputer Communication Networks. 615 24$aOperating Systems. 615 24$aCryptology. 615 24$aIT in Business. 676 $a005.8 686 $a54.81$2bcl 701 $aKatsikas$b Sokratis K$01754283 701 $aLopez$b Javier$01096793 701 $aPernul$b G$g(Gunther),$f1961-$01220848 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484744403321 996 $aTrust, privacy, and security in digital business$94190529 997 $aUNINA
