In this illustrated book, based on a research journey that required both biographical investigation and locating his work in Canada and the United States, Judith Nasby presents the first critical retrospective of his life and work." "Scarlett was born in Guelph, Ontario, in 1889. By the time he moved to the United States in 1918 he already had some experience with painting, making jewelry, and designing for the stage -which he put to good use in New York. Throughout the 1930's and 1940's Scarlett was a leading practitioner of geometric abstraction. His streamlined modern industrial designs for everything from household objects to the New York World's Fair amusement rides emphasized efficiency, science, and progress. Sculptural jewellery increasingly became his focus and after his retirement in the 1960's he actively made jewellery until a few years before his death at ninety-five."--BOOK JACKET. 606 $aArt, Abstract$zUnited States 606 $aArt, Abstract$zCanada 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aArt, Abstract 615 0$aArt, Abstract 676 $a759.11 700 $aNasby$b Judith$f1945-$0937124 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461525203321 996 $aRolph Scarlett$92110716 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02883nam 2200649 450 001 9910828036903321 005 20230125211540.0 010 $a1-78684-189-4 010 $a0-8108-8296-5 035 $a(CKB)3710000000020881 035 $a(EBL)1466981 035 $a(OCoLC)860879351 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001001776 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12458294 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001001776 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10997047 035 $a(PQKB)11550810 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1466981 035 $a(CaBNVSL)gtp00566669 035 $a(Credo)rowmanpopular2013 035 $a(OCoLC)967395027 035 $a(Credo)9781786841896 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1466981 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10780927 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000020881 100 $a20131017h20132013 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aEncyclopedia of great popular song recordings /$fSteve Sullivan 205 $a[Enhanced Credo edition] 210 1$aLanham :$cScarecrow Press,$d[2013] 210 4$dİ2013 215 $a1 online resource (1027 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a0-8108-8295-7 320 $aIncludes bibliographies and index. 327 $aVolume 1 : Abbreviations -- Criteria for Song Selection -- Introduction -- Playlist 1: Crazy Blues, 1906 / 2004 -- Playlist 2: Down Home Rag, 1897 / 2005 -- Playlist 3: Sitting on Top of the World, 1890 / 2011 -- Playlist 4: Good Rockin' Tonight, 1904 / 2005 -- Playlist 5: Jazznocracy, 1897 / 2010 -- Playlist 6: Hot Time in the Old Town, 1893 / 2008 -- Playlist 7: Fascinating Rhythm, 1891 / 2008 -- Playlist 8: Let the Good Times Roll, 1895 / 2011 -- Playlist 9: Wasn't That a Time? 1895 / 2006 -- Playlist 10: Memories of You, 1889 / 2012 -- Bibliography. 330 3 $aFrom John Philip Sousa to Green Day, from Scott Joplin to Kanye West, from Stephen Foster to Coldplay, The Encyclopedia of Great Popular Song Recordings covers the vast scope of its subject with virtually unprecedented breadth and depth.
