Arguably, this was one of civil society's finest hours. 25 years later, governments all over Europe would like to see civil society confined to service provision under government regulation, while some researchers tend to believe civil society can only exist in a democratic society. Against this backdrop, one may well ask what has become of civil society in Central Europe 25 years after 1989. Committed researchers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia (now known as the Visegrád countries) joined the research team of the Maecenata Institute for Philanthropy and Civil Society, Berlin, in conducting the research project '25-Years After. Mapping Civil Society in the Visegrád Countries', a comparative analysis of organised Civil Society, in 2014/2015. This publication contains detailed surveys of the four countries as well as a comparative chapter. 410 0$aMaecenata Schriften ;$vBand 11. 606 $aCivil society 606 $aCivil society$zHungary$xHistory 606 $aCivil society$zCzech Republic$xHistory 607 $aEurope, Eastern$xSocial conditions$y1989- 607 $aEurope, Eastern$xPolitics and government$y1989- 610 $aCivil Society. 610 $aCzech Republic. 610 $aDevelopment. 610 $aHungary. 610 $aMaecenata Foundation. 610 $aPoland. 610 $aPublic. 610 $aSelf-Determination. 610 $aSlovak Republic. 615 0$aCivil society. 615 0$aCivil society$xHistory. 615 0$aCivil society$xHistory. 676 $a300 686 $aMS 4410$qSEPA$2rvk 702 $aSchreier$b Christian 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910827415503321 996 $a25 years after$94011259 997 $aUNINA
