Where most studies portray this period as one of decline and decay, Tibble argues instead that, for many Catholics, 1557 was characterised by hope and a sense of progression. He argues that the royal couple successfully re-forged their image as the embodiment of a political union that many considered the foundation of a new Anglo-Habsburg dynasty, and, equally successfully, represented their dual monarchy as a bastion in the fight to reform Catholic Christianity in response to the Protestant Reformation. 410 0$aStudies in Medieval and Reformation Traditions ;$v220. 606 $aMameranus Lucemburgensis, Nicolaus, 1500-1567 606 $aLatijnse letterkunde 607 $aGreat Britain$xHistory$yMary I, 1553-1558 607 $aEngland$xCourt and courtiers$xHistory$y16th century 607 $aEngland$xChurch history$y16th century 615 0$aMameranus Lucemburgensis, Nicolaus, 1500-1567. 615 0$aLatijnse letterkunde. 676 $a871.04 700 $aTibble$b Matthew$01664321 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910823125803321 996 $aNicolaus Mameranus$94022282 997 $aUNINA
