Bei der Unterrichtsplanung wird Humor jedoch nur gelegentlich bis gar nicht berücksichtigt und bei keinem der untersuchten Chemieschulbücher kann von einer humorvollen Gestaltung gesprochen werden. Um Humor für die chemiedidaktische Forschung zugänglich zu machen, erfolgt zunächst eine theoretische Fundierung. Darauf aufbauend entsteht die Theorie des Chemiespezifischen Humors, die aus einem schulbezogenen Konzept, einem schulbezogenen Modell und einem allgemeinen Konzept besteht. Chemiespezifischer Humor (ChH) lässt sich demnach als Merkmal von Lehr-Lernmaterial didaktisch modellieren und in Hinsicht auf seine Wirkung untersuchen. Im Zentrum der Hauptuntersuchung steht selbst entwickeltes Lernmaterial zum Thema Periodensystem der Elemente für die Jahrgangsstufe 8 der Realschule in den Varianten mit ChH und ohne ChH. Dabei zeigt sich in Hinsicht auf die Attraktivität ein deutlicher Vorteil des ChH-Materials. Auch wirkt ChH-Material besser auf das von den Schülerinnen und Schülern zu erwerbende Fachwissen.
