It undertakes a close reading of delimited royal inscriptions and iconography making use of postcolonial and gender theory, and addresses such topics as royal deification, ?religious imperialism?, ethnicity and empire, and gendered imagery. The important contribution of this study lies especially in its identification of patterns of ideological continuity and variation within the reigns of individual rulers, between various localities, and between the different rulers of this period, and in its discussion of the place of Early Neo-Assyrian state ideology in the overall development of Assyrian propaganda. It includes several indexed appendices, which list all primary sources, present all divine and royal epithets, and provide all of the ?royal visual representations,? and incorporates numerous illustrations, such as maps, plans, and royal iconography. 410 0$aStudies in ancient Near Eastern records ;$vVolume 10. 606 $aGods$xPolitical aspects$zAssyria$xHistory$vSources 606 $aIdeology$xPolitical aspects$zAssyria$xHistory$vSources 606 $aPower (Social sciences)$zAssyria$xHistory$vSources 606 $aImperialism$xHistory$yTo 1500$vSources 607 $aAssyria$xKings and rulers$xHistory$vSources 607 $aAssyria$xPolitics and government$vSources 607 $aAssyria$xForeign relations$vSources 607 $aAssyria$xAntiquities 607 $aIraq$xHistory$yTo 634$vSources 610 $aAshurnasirpal II. 610 $aNeo-Assyrian. 610 $aShalmaneser III. 610 $apropaganda. 615 0$aGods$xPolitical aspects$xHistory 615 0$aIdeology$xPolitical aspects$xHistory 615 0$aPower (Social sciences)$xHistory 615 0$aImperialism$xHistory 676 $a935.03 700 $aKarlsson$b Mattias$f1973-$01152337 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910822034103321 996 $aRelations of power in early Neo-Assyrian state ideology$92696176 997 $aUNINA
