This 80 percent participation rate reaffirms the importance countries place on data transparency in the globalized economy, which the initiatives promote. The wide participation can be attributed to the consultative process that has allowed for the development of a coherent program that takes account of countries' capabilities, delineates clear responsibilities between the IMF and participating countries, and establishes effective monitoring procedures to ensure the credibility of the standards for policymakers, capital markets, and the general public. The approach has also provided checks and balances and fostered accountability. The initiatives may provide insights for the promotion of similar international standards. 410 0$aIMF working paper ;$vWP/06/102. 606 $aDisclosure of information 606 $aFinance$vStatistics$xStandards 606 $aEconomic indicators$xStandards 615 0$aDisclosure of information. 615 0$aFinance$xStandards. 615 0$aEconomic indicators$xStandards. 700 $aKester$b Anne Y$01669777 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bStatistics Dept. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910822022503321 996 $aIMF data standards initiatives$94187571 997 $aUNINA
