Latinos ? the largest, youngest, and fastest-growing minority group in the United States ? are expected to face a 142% rise in cancer cases in coming years. Although there has been substantial advancement in cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment over the past few decades, addressing Latino cancer health disparities has not nearly kept pace with progress. The diverse and dynamic group of speakers and panelists brought together at the Advancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos conference provided in-depth insights as well as progress and actionable goals for Latino-focused basic science research, clinical best practices, community interventions, and what can be done by way of prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in Latinos. These insights have been translated into the chapters included in this compendium; the chapters summarize the presentations and include current knowledge in the specific topic areas, identified gaps, and top priority areas for future cancer research in Latinos. Topics included among the chapters: Colorectal cancer disparities in Latinos: Genes vs. Environment Breast cancer risk and mortality in women of Latin American origin Differential cancer risk in Latinos: The role of diet Overcoming barriers for Latinos on cancer clinical trials Es tiempo: Engaging Latinas in cervical cancer research Emerging policies in U.S. health care Advancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos proves to be an indispensable resource offering key insights into actionable targets for basic science research, suggestions for clinical best practices and community interventions, and novel strategies and advocacy opportunities to reduce health disparities in Latino communities. It will find an engaged audience among researchers, academics, physicians and other healthcare professionals, patient advocates, students, and others with an interest in the broad field of Latino cancer. 606 $aHealth promotion 606 $aOncology   606 $aSocial structure 606 $aEquality 606 $aCancer research 606 $aHealth Promotion and Disease Prevention$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H27010 606 $aOncology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H33160 606 $aSocial Structure, Social Inequality$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22010 606 $aCancer Research$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/B11001 610 $aMedicine 610 $aHealth promotion 610 $aOncology   610 $aSocial structure 610 $aSocial inequality 610 $aCancer research 615 0$aHealth promotion. 615 0$aOncology  . 615 0$aSocial structure. 615 0$aEquality. 615 0$aCancer research. 615 14$aHealth Promotion and Disease Prevention. 615 24$aOncology. 615 24$aSocial Structure, Social Inequality. 615 24$aCancer Research. 676 $a613 676 $a614.44 702 $aRamirez$b Amelie Gutierrez$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aTrapido$b Edward J$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910369939903321 996 $aAdvancing the Science of Cancer in Latinos$93558330 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02161nam 2200541 450 001 9910822013703321 005 20230801225239.0 010 $a1-299-20152-0 010 $a0-7083-2538-6 035 $a(CKB)2670000000276869 035 $a(EBL)1889129 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000818490 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12370162 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000818490 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10840179 035 $a(PQKB)10701361 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1889129 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1635710 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1889129 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10626967 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL451402 035 $a(OCoLC)870951031 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000276869 100 $a20151125h20122012 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aAdolfo Bioy Casares $eBorges, fiction and art /$fedited by Karl Posso 210 1$aCardiff, [Wales] :$cUniversity of Wales Press,$d2012. 210 4$d©2012 215 $a1 online resource (248 p.) 225 1 $aIberian and Latin American Studies 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a0-7083-2537-8 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aSeries Editors' Foreword; Acknowledgements; List of figures; Note on translations; Notes on contributors; Introduction: Rethinking Adolfo Bioy Casares; Adolfo Bioy Casares: a biographical sketch; Borges's appendix: reflections on Bioy's diary; Bioy and Borges: from the third man to the worldof Bustos Domecq; Every man is an island: Bioy's fiction; 1969: youth and rebellion in Diario de la guerra del cerdoand Invasio?n; The fantastic in Bioy's short stories; Bioy, Ocampo and the photographic image; To love in the infinitive: time, image and the powers of thefalse in La invencio?n de Morel; Index 410 0$aIberian and Latin American studies. 676 $a863.6 702 $aPosso$b Karl 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910822013703321 996 $aAdolfo Bioy Casares$91261353 997 $aUNINA
