The lessons we draw are of sufficiently general interest to be applicable to other countries or reforms of employment protection laws. Using a model that captures the characteristics of the French labor market, we simulate the effects of this reform on unemployment, employment, and welfare. We estimate that the CNE will lead to the creation of 70,000 additional jobs in the long run, but at the cost of a slight deterioration in welfare. 410 0$aIMF working paper ;$vWP/06/301. 606 $aLabor contract$zFrance 606 $aJob creation$zFrance 606 $aLabor laws and legislation$zFrance 615 0$aLabor contract 615 0$aJob creation 615 0$aLabor laws and legislation 700 $aCahuc$b Pierre$0148516 701 $aCarcillo$b Stephane$01176587 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bFiscal Affairs Dept. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910820341503321 996 $aThe Shortcomings of a Partial Release of Employment Protection Laws$94039530 997 $aUNINA
