The preparation and conduct of the jihad provide the topics for Nana Asma'u's poetry. Her work also includes treatises on history, law, mysticism, theology, and politics, and was heavily influenced by the Arabic poetic tradition. This volume contains annotated translations of works by the 19th century intellectual giant, Nana Asma'u, including 54 poems and prose texts. 410 0$aAfrican historical sources ;$v9. 606 $aAfrican literature$y19th century 606 $aNigerian essays (English) 606 $aArabic prose literature 615 0$aAfrican literature 615 0$aNigerian essays (English) 615 0$aArabic prose literature. 676 $a893/.721 700 $aAsma'u$b Nana$f1793-1865.$01675246 701 $aBoyd$b Jean$0661050 701 $aMack$b Beverly B$g(Beverly Blow),$f1952-$0667876 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910820046203321 996 $aCollected works of Nana Asma'u, daughter of Usman dan Fodiyo, (1793-1864)$94040574 997 $aUNINA
