CESE-13: A Quantification of Foreign Bank Claims on the Private Sector, by Home and Host Countries 330 3 $aThe aim of this paper is to construct a comprehensive and consistent dataset to analyze the potential risks from foreign bank lending, for both the creditor and borrower countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (CESE). We develop a picture of bank claims on 13 CESE countries by combining credit statistics from several sources. Our constructed data suggest that some of these host countries have become more at risk from a sudden withdrawal of short-term external funding, while home countries have significant aggregate exposures to the region. Overall, we find that data on banking activity remain largely inadequate for surveillance and policymaking purposes, and that a concerted effort to improve data collection is needed at the international level. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2009/054 606 $aBanks and banking, Foreign 606 $aBanks and banking$zEurope 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aMoney and Monetary Policy$2imf 606 $aIndustries: Financial Services$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aMonetary Systems$2imf 606 $aStandards$2imf 606 $aRegimes$2imf 606 $aGovernment and the Monetary System$2imf 606 $aPayment Systems$2imf 606 $aPension Funds$2imf 606 $aNon-bank Financial Institutions$2imf 606 $aFinancial Instruments$2imf 606 $aInstitutional Investors$2imf 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aMonetary economics$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aForeign banks$2imf 606 $aForeign currency exposure$2imf 606 $aCurrencies$2imf 606 $aCommercial banks$2imf 606 $aFinancial institutions$2imf 606 $aMoney$2imf 606 $aNonbank financial institutions$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking, Foreign$2imf 606 $aForeign exchange market$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aFinancial services industry$2imf 607 $aUnited States$2imf 615 0$aBanks and banking, Foreign. 615 0$aBanks and banking 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aMoney and Monetary Policy 615 7$aIndustries: Financial Services 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aMonetary Systems 615 7$aStandards 615 7$aRegimes 615 7$aGovernment and the Monetary System 615 7$aPayment Systems 615 7$aPension Funds 615 7$aNon-bank Financial Institutions 615 7$aFinancial Instruments 615 7$aInstitutional Investors 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aMonetary economics 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aForeign banks 615 7$aForeign currency exposure 615 7$aCurrencies 615 7$aCommercial banks 615 7$aFinancial institutions 615 7$aMoney 615 7$aNonbank financial institutions 615 7$aBanks and banking, Foreign 615 7$aForeign exchange market 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aFinancial services industry 676 $a338.28394 700 $aOng$b Li$01660797 701 $aMaechler$b Andrea$01636989 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bMonetary and Capital Markets Dept. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910817533403321 996 $aForeign Banks in the CESE Countries$94016274 997 $aUNINA
