Using the 1995 international input-output data for APEC member countries, we numerically simulate a general equilibrium model to study the effects of abolishing existing tariffs under the assumption that each member country is large enough to affect the prices of goods and services produced in the region. We find that the responsiveness of prices plays an important role in easing a possible adverse effect of trade on relative wages. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2006/155 606 $aEquilibrium (Economics)$xEconometric models 606 $aInternational trade$xEconometric models 606 $aPrices$xEconometric models 606 $aWages$xEconometric models 606 $aEmpirical Studies of Trade$2imf 606 $aExistence and Stability Conditions of Equilibrium$2imf 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aImports$2imf 606 $aIncome economics$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aInternational Trade Organizations$2imf 606 $aInternational trade$2imf 606 $aLabor market$2imf 606 $aLabor$2imf 606 $aLabour$2imf 606 $aNeoclassical Models of Trade$2imf 606 $aOccupational Licensing$2imf 606 $aProfessional Labor Markets$2imf 606 $aPublic finance & taxation$2imf 606 $aSkilled labor$2imf 606 $aTariff$2imf 606 $aTariffs$2imf 606 $aTaxation$2imf 606 $aTaxes$2imf 606 $aTrade and Labor Market Interactions$2imf 606 $aTrade Policy$2imf 606 $aTrade: General$2imf 606 $aWage Differentials$2imf 606 $aWage gap$2imf 606 $aWage Level and Structure$2imf 606 $aWages$2imf 606 $aWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: General$2imf 607 $aUnited States$2imf 615 0$aEquilibrium (Economics)$xEconometric models. 615 0$aInternational trade$xEconometric models. 615 0$aPrices$xEconometric models. 615 0$aWages$xEconometric models. 615 7$aEmpirical Studies of Trade 615 7$aExistence and Stability Conditions of Equilibrium 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aImports 615 7$aIncome economics 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aInternational Trade Organizations 615 7$aInternational trade 615 7$aLabor market 615 7$aLabor 615 7$aLabour 615 7$aNeoclassical Models of Trade 615 7$aOccupational Licensing 615 7$aProfessional Labor Markets 615 7$aPublic finance & taxation 615 7$aSkilled labor 615 7$aTariff 615 7$aTariffs 615 7$aTaxation 615 7$aTaxes 615 7$aTrade and Labor Market Interactions 615 7$aTrade Policy 615 7$aTrade: General 615 7$aWage Differentials 615 7$aWage gap 615 7$aWage Level and Structure 615 7$aWages 615 7$aWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: General 700 $aTokutsu$b Ichiro$01768146 701 $aSaito$b Mika$01768147 712 02$aIMF Institute. 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910817458203321 996 $aThe Impact of Tradeon Wages$94230079 997 $aUNINA
