Libraries have been deeply affected by the worst recession since the Great Depression. While "Advances in Librarianship" endeavors to identify trends and innovations, the trend addressed in this volume is admittedly not a happy one. The current climate does however, present opportunities for analysis, and far reaching searches for solutions and innovations that can alleviate the challenges created by the clash of fiscal retrenchment with steadily increasing use of libraries. Therefore this volume addresses the ripple effects of the economic recession from the point of view of librarianship, the need for advocacy, and the necessity to tout the value that libraries bring to their communities. Chapters focus on identifying means to change library and library related organizations so that they focus on distinctive assets and strengths, use free or low cost resources and technologies, and position themselves to take advantage of collaborative initiatives. 410 0$aAdvances in Librarianship, 34 606 $aLanguage Arts & Disciplines$xLibrary & Information Science$xAdministration & Management*$2bisacsh 606 $aLanguage Arts & Disciplines$xLibrary & Information Science$xGeneral$2bisacsh 606 $aBusiness & Economics$xEconomic Conditions$2bisacsh 606 $aLibrary, archive & information management$2bicssc 606 $aLibrary & information services$2bicssc 606 $aLibrary finance 606 $aLibraries$xEconomic aspects 606 $aGlobal Financial Crisis, 2008-2009 615 7$aLanguage Arts & Disciplines$xLibrary & Information Science$xAdministration & Management*. 615 7$aLanguage Arts & Disciplines$xLibrary & Information Science$xGeneral. 615 7$aBusiness & Economics$xEconomic Conditions. 615 7$aLibrary, archive & information management. 615 7$aLibrary & information services. 615 0$aLibrary finance. 615 0$aLibraries$xEconomic aspects. 615 0$aGlobal Financial Crisis, 2008-2009. 676 $a020 676 $a025.11 701 $aWoodsworth$b Anne$01608099 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910816186403321 996 $aLibrarianship in times of crisis$93956377 997 $aUNINA
