Dorian gathers findings from decades of documenting an endangered Scottish Gaelic dialect, presenting detailed evidence of contraction and loss but also recording a positive role for imperfect speakers. Retention of language skills undervalued by linguists but positively viewed by the community has supported the survival of local Gaelic-English bilingualism well beyond early predictions. Nonetheless, potent factors that threaten small-language survival everywhere have also operated here. Negative social attitudes towards the minority population, loss of a traditional occupation, the increasing impact of majority-culture ideologies, are recurrent phenomena in small-language settings. Maintenance or revitalization efforts pose special challenges under these circumstances, as does fieldwork itself when adverse sociohistorical forces have left very few fluent speakers. 410 0$aBrill's studies in language, cognition and culture ;$vVolume 6. 606 $aEndangered languages 606 $aScottish Gaelic language$xDialects$zScotland 615 0$aEndangered languages. 615 0$aScottish Gaelic language$xDialects 676 $a491.6/3 700 $aDorian$b Nancy C.$0174569 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910814807403321 996 $aSmall-language fates and prospects$94121816 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03341nam 22006013 450 001 9910760497703321 005 20230629221226.0 010 $a9781789246612 010 $a178924661X 010 $a9781789246629 010 $a1789246628 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6938808 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6938808 035 $a(CKB)21420535600041 035 $a(NjHacI)9921420535600041 035 $a(OCoLC)1305911203 035 $a(Perlego)3294727 035 $a(EXLCZ)9921420535600041 100 $a20220327d2022 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aPeer-To-peer Accommodation and Community Resilience $eImplications for Sustainable Development 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aOxford :$cCAB International,$d2022. 210 4$dİ2022. 215 $a1 online resource (234 pages) 311 08$a9781789246605 311 08$a1789246601 327 $aIntro -- Title page -- Copyright -- Dedication -- Contents -- Biographies of Editors and Authors -- Acknowledgements -- Foreword -- Introduction -- 1 Mobile Gentrifiers and Leavers: Tourist Dwelling as an Agent of Exclusion in Barcelona -- 2 Social Exchanges and Peer-to-peer Accommodation: Residents' Perceptions in a Neighbourhood Context -- 3 Airbnb Host Responsibilities and Community Resilience: the Case of Japan -- 4 Peer-to-peer Accommodation and Resilient Hosts in Split: the Case of Radunica Street -- 5 Perceived Impacts of Short-term Rentals in the Local Community in the UK -- 6 Airbnb Guests' Pro-environmental Behaviour and Community Resilience: Mitigating the Negative Impacts of Airbnb Tourism -- 7 Reframing Rurality: the Impact of Airbnb on Second-home Communities in Wales and Sweden -- 8 Local Commitment and Withdrawal in the Wake of Conspicuous Airbnb Place Dynamics on a Cold-Water Island -- 9 Peer-to-peer Accommodation as a Peacebuilding Tool: Community Resilience and Group Membership -- 10 'Not in My Stairway': How Do Neighbours Cope with Peer-to-peer Rentals in Housing Cooperatives? -- 11 Understanding the Airbnb Community and its Community Impact: the Use of Scenarios to Build Resilience -- Index -- Backcover. 330 $aThe growth of peer-to-peer (P2P) accommodation has been remarkable. However, the rapid expansion of the phenomenon has yielded several concerns over its potentially negative impacts on the economic, social and environmental levels. This edited book addresses the need to examine the P2P accommodation phenomenon from a sustainability lens. 606 $aHospitality industry 615 0$aHospitality industry. 676 $a647.94 700 $aFarmaki$b Anna$01439743 701 $aIoannides$b Dimitri$0276111 701 $aKladou$b Stella$01439695 701 $aAdie$b Bailey Ashton$01439744 701 $aAlbarran$b David$01439745 701 $aAlonso-Almeida$b Maria del Mar$01439746 701 $aAmore$b Alberto$01439747 701 $aAntoniou$b Katerina$01439748 701 $aBernardi$b Cecilia De$01439749 701 $aEfthymiadou$b Fani$01439750 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910760497703321 996 $aPeer-To-peer Accommodation and Community Resilience$93602031 997 $aUNINA
