Conclusion. 330 $aThis book explores the potential relevance of the Upanishads, a corpus of ancient Eastern apophatic texts, to contemporary Western theories of consciousness and psychopathology, particularly in relation to psychoanalysis, neuroscience, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Beginning with an analysis of Upanishadic thought and its historical influence in Europe, this work bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern scientific inquiry. It examines the dream theories of psychoanalyst Wilfred Bion in relation to Upanishadic conceptions of the Self, followed by an exploration of contemporary neuroscientific perspectives on selfhood. Further, it delves into the evolution and function of sleep and dreaming in Homo sapiens, proposing a novel heuristic: that schizophrenia-spectrum disorders may be developmentally linked to alterations in the sleep and dreaming systems of the human mind-brain. Offering a unique interdisciplinary synthesis, this text will appeal to scholars and students of philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and religious studies, as well as those interested in the intersections of ancient meditative traditions and modern scientific paradigms. Edward Miller is a medical doctor and senior child and adolescent psychiatry registrar who is a member of both the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, and is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer with the University of Auckland. Aside from his clinical work with children, young people and their families, he has an interest in mind brain science, neurophilosophy and philosophy of mind, spirituality, and mental health research. 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Religious Studies,$x2510-5043 606 $aReligion and science 606 $aCognitive science 606 $aPsychology and religion 606 $aIndia$xReligion 606 $aCognitive Science of Religion 606 $aPsychology of Religion and Spirituality 606 $aIndian Religions 615 0$aReligion and science. 615 0$aCognitive science. 615 0$aPsychology and religion. 615 0$aIndia$xReligion. 615 14$aCognitive Science of Religion. 615 24$aPsychology of Religion and Spirituality. 615 24$aIndian Religions. 676 $a306.6 676 $a153 700 $aMiller$b Edward$02716 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911018667503321 996 $aRelating Ontological Truth in the Upanishads to Sleep, Dreaming and Schizophrenia Spectrum Models$94414965 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03360nam 22006375 450 001 9910484023103321 005 20251117001456.0 010 $a3-030-74173-7 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-030-74173-0 035 $a(CKB)4100000011954638 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-030-74173-0 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6639211 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6639211 035 $a(OCoLC)1256542201 035 $a(PPN)269152342 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000011954638 100 $a20210608d2021 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn#008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aFluoroquinolone-Associated Disability (FQAD) - Pathogenesis, Diagnostics, Therapy and Diagnostic Criteria $eSide-effects of Fluoroquinolones /$fby Stefan Pieper 205 $a1st ed. 2021. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2021. 215 $a1 online resource (X, 70 p. 2 illus.) 311 08$a3-030-74172-9 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $a1 Introduction to Fluoroquinolone-Associated Disability (FQAD) -- 2 FQAD and Oxidative Stress and Mitochondrial Toxicity -- 3 FQAD and Musculoskeletal Damage / Collagen Disorder -- 4 FQAD and Neurotoxicity / Peripheral Neuropathy (PN) / Autonomic Neuropathy / Small Fibre Neuropathy -- 5 FQAD and Neuropsychiatric Adverse Effects -- 6 Diagnostic criteria of the FQAD -- 7 Inside Story - Practical experience with FQAD Patients. 330 $aIn this book, Stefan Pieper supports doctors and therapists in easily diagnosing FQAD and in better and more adequately dealing with FQAD patients. Fluoroquinolones, as one of the most common and effective groups of antibiotics, are known to have a distinct spectrum of side effects. These adverse effects are rare in percentage terms, but frequent in absolute numbers due to the enormous quantities of prescriptions. Because they are usually quite severe and wide-ranging, they tend to run like a syndrome and have been classified by the FDA as a separate condition, the FQAD, because of their frequency, severity and risk of disability. This book presents for the first time a comprehensive description and classification of the clinical picture and a proposal for a clinical diagnostic tool based on diagnostic criteria. 606 $aInternal medicine 606 $aFamily medicine 606 $aCritical care medicine 606 $aInternal Medicine 606 $aGeneral Practice and Family Medicine 606 $aIntensive Care Medicine 606 $aAntibiòtics$2thub 606 $aEfectes secundaris dels medicaments$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrònics$2thub 615 0$aInternal medicine. 615 0$aFamily medicine. 615 0$aCritical care medicine. 615 14$aInternal Medicine. 615 24$aGeneral Practice and Family Medicine. 615 24$aIntensive Care Medicine. 615 7$aAntibiòtics. 615 7$aEfectes secundaris dels medicaments 676 $a615.7922 700 $aPieper$b Stefan$0888507 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484023103321 996 $aFluoroquinolone-Associated Disability (FQAD) - Pathogenesis, Diagnostics, Therapy and Diagnostic Criteria$91985016 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01473nam 22003973 450 001 9911049058703321 005 20260105084504.0 010 $a3-032-06589-5 035 $a(CKB)44770005400041 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC32470428 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL32470428 035 $a(EXLCZ)9944770005400041 100 $a20260105d2025 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aBusiness Power in Agriculture Value Chains $eArgentina During the Commodity Boom 205 $a1st ed. 210 1$aCham :$cPalgrave Macmillan,$d2025. 210 4$d©2025. 215 $a1 online resource (232 pages) 225 0 $aLatin American Political Economy Series 311 08$a3-032-06588-7 330 $aThis book examines how multinational agribusiness companies shape the regulation of agricultural value chains in Latin America.Focusing on Argentina--one of the world's largest agricultural exporters--it analyzes distributive conflicts across three policy arenas: seed intellectual property rights, foreign trade policy, and environmental. 410 0$aLatin American Political Economy Series 676 $a338.1098 700 $aO'Farrell$b Juan$01885773 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9911049058703321 996 $aBusiness Power in Agriculture Value Chains$94521134 997 $aUNINA
