The South African banking system is highly concentrated with more than 90 percent of banking assets being controlled by the five largest banks. A suitable legal framework for banking supervision is in place to provide each responsible authority with the necessary legal powers to authorize banks, conduct ongoing supervision, address compliance with laws, and undertake timely corrective actions to address safety and soundness concerns. The responsibilities and objectives of each of the authorities involved in banking supervision are clearly defined in legislation and publicly disclosed. 410 0$aIMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;$vNo. 2015/055 606 $aBanks and banking$xState supervision$zSouth Africa 606 $aBanks and banking$xState supervision$zSouth Africa$vEvaluation 606 $aBanking law$zSouth Africa 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aPublic Finance$2imf 606 $aFinance: General$2imf 606 $aFinancial Risk Management$2imf 606 $aCriminology$2imf 606 $aBanks$2imf 606 $aDepository Institutions$2imf 606 $aMicro Finance Institutions$2imf 606 $aMortgages$2imf 606 $aFinancing Policy$2imf 606 $aFinancial Risk and Risk Management$2imf 606 $aCapital and Ownership Structure$2imf 606 $aValue of Firms$2imf 606 $aGoodwill$2imf 606 $aPublic Administration$2imf 606 $aPublic Sector Accounting and Audits$2imf 606 $aAuditing$2imf 606 $aGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and Regulation$2imf 606 $aFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and Regulation$2imf 606 $aInternational Financial Markets$2imf 606 $aBanking$2imf 606 $aFinancial services law & regulation$2imf 606 $aManagement accounting & bookkeeping$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aCorporate crime$2imf 606 $awhite-collar crime$2imf 606 $aExternal audit$2imf 606 $aMarket risk$2imf 606 $aCredit risk$2imf 606 $aOperational risk$2imf 606 $aPublic financial management (PFM)$2imf 606 $aFinancial regulation and supervision$2imf 606 $aInternal audit$2imf 606 $aBanks and banking$2imf 606 $aFinancial risk management$2imf 606 $aAuditing, Internal$2imf 606 $aState supervision$2imf 606 $aFinancial services industry$2imf 607 $aSouth Africa$2imf 615 0$aBanks and banking$xState supervision 615 0$aBanks and banking$xState supervision 615 0$aBanking law 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aPublic Finance 615 7$aFinance: General 615 7$aFinancial Risk Management 615 7$aCriminology 615 7$aBanks 615 7$aDepository Institutions 615 7$aMicro Finance Institutions 615 7$aMortgages 615 7$aFinancing Policy 615 7$aFinancial Risk and Risk Management 615 7$aCapital and Ownership Structure 615 7$aValue of Firms 615 7$aGoodwill 615 7$aPublic Administration 615 7$aPublic Sector Accounting and Audits 615 7$aAuditing 615 7$aGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and Regulation 615 7$aFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and Regulation 615 7$aInternational Financial Markets 615 7$aBanking 615 7$aFinancial services law & regulation 615 7$aManagement accounting & bookkeeping 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aCorporate crime 615 7$awhite-collar crime 615 7$aExternal audit 615 7$aMarket risk 615 7$aCredit risk 615 7$aOperational risk 615 7$aPublic financial management (PFM) 615 7$aFinancial regulation and supervision 615 7$aInternal audit 615 7$aBanks and banking 615 7$aFinancial risk management 615 7$aAuditing, Internal 615 7$aState supervision 615 7$aFinancial services industry 676 $a332.1 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910814010603321 996 $aSouth Africa$9172791 997 $aUNINA
