There they found themselves subject to a surreal honour system that allowed them daily parole away from their internment camp, free to golf or cycle across the broad plains of the Curragh without any supervision. This system forbid escape attempts when they were on parole but bound them, as RAF officers, to attempt to escape upon their return to camp. A colourful and often amusing record of events, Grounded in Eire offers insight into this little-known aspect of the war and provides a testament to courage, friendship, and perseverance in the face of unusual obstacles. 606 $aWorld War, 1939-1945$xPrisoners and prisons, Irish 606 $aPrisoners of war$zIreland$vBiography 606 $aPrisoners of war$zCanada$vBiography 606 $aGuerre mondiale, 1939-1945$xPrisonniers et prisons des Irlandais 606 $aPrisonniers de guerre$zIrlande$vBiographies 606 $aPrisonniers de guerre$zCanada$vBiographies 606 $aGuerre mondiale, 1939-1945$vRecits personnels canadiens 615 0$aWorld War, 1939-1945$xPrisoners and prisons, Irish. 615 0$aPrisoners of war 615 0$aPrisoners of war 615 6$aGuerre mondiale, 1939-1945$xPrisonniers et prisons des Irlandais. 615 6$aPrisonniers de guerre 615 6$aPrisonniers de guerre 615 6$aGuerre mondiale, 1939-1945 676 $a940.54/72417/092 700 $aKeefer$b Ralph$f1952-$01601692 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910813025103321 996 $aGrounded in Eire$93925399 997 $aUNINA
