Concluding Remarks; References 330 3 $aDuring the first half of 2008, Sri Lanka witnessed significantly higher inflation than most other emerging Asian countries. Inflation has since declined amid declining world commodity prices and tight monetary policy. Given the sensitivity to global commodity prices, a core inflation measure could be useful for monetary policy. The purpose of this paper is to compare the performance of Sri Lanka's existing official measure of core inflation against alternative measures. Our findings suggest that the existing measure does contain information about the future path of headline information, but may be inadequate as a communication tool for the Central Bank. 410 0$aIMF working paper ;$vWP/09/167. 606 $aInflation (Finance)$zSri Lanka 606 $aMonetary policy$zSri Lanka 615 0$aInflation (Finance) 615 0$aMonetary policy 676 $a332.495 700 $aGupta$b Souvik$01614883 701 $aSaxegaard$b Magnus$01604262 712 02$aInternational Monetary Fund.$bAsia and Pacific Dept. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910812316703321 996 $aMeasures of Underlying Inflation in Sri Lanka$93944861 997 $aUNINA
