There is considerable heterogeneity when comparing individual technology-focused acquisitions - especially with respect to acquisition timing and the deal value. To resolve some of this heterogeneity the author introduces the novel distinction between performance- and functionality-focused acquisitions. He characterizes this distinction based on a theoretical analysis, a qualitative study, and turns to a sample of acquisitions in the field of artificial intelligence for the quantitative study. There are two key findings. First, performance-focused acquisitions take place earlier in a target's life cycle than functionality-focused ones. Second, the deal value is - at a comparable stage in a target's life cycle - higher for performance-focused acquisitions. This thesis is relevant for management scholars and managers alike: Scholars learn about the implications of the distinction between performance- and functionality-focused acquisitions on markets for technology. Managers gain insights into how this distinction may guide their strategic decision making. 606 $aBusiness enterprises$xValuation 606 $aNegotiation in business 606 $aBusiness enterprises$xPurchasing 607 $aUnited States$2fast 608 $aAcademic Dissertation 608 $aAcademic theses.$2fast 608 $aCase studies.$2fast 608 $aAcademic theses.$2lcgft 608 $aThe?ses et e?crits acade?miques.$2rvmgf 615 0$aBusiness enterprises$xValuation. 615 0$aNegotiation in business. 615 0$aBusiness enterprises$xPurchasing. 676 $a658.15 686 $aQP 450$2rvk 700 $aStein$b Jan Paul$01675862 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910810914403321 996 $aTechnology-focused acquisitions$94041634 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03617nam 22005055 450 001 9910682594603321 005 20251113175003.0 010 $a3-031-22401-9 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-031-22401-0 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC7211985 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL7211985 035 $a(CKB)26257774300041 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-031-22401-0 035 $a(PPN)269094512 035 $a(EXLCZ)9926257774300041 100 $a20230309d2023 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aAdvances in Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials /$fedited by Holm Altenbach, Julius Kaplunov, Hongbing Lu, Masayuki Nakada 205 $a1st ed. 2023. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2023. 215 $a1 online resource (254 pages) 225 1 $aAdvanced Structured Materials,$x1869-8441 ;$v188 311 08$aPrint version: Altenbach, Holm Advances in Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials Cham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2023 9783031224003 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references. 327 $aStieltjes continued fractions and their role in identifying linear viscoelastic material functions -- Viscoelasticity and viscoplasticity of hydrogels with supramolecular and dynamic covalent bonds -- Rheological aspects of 3D printing -- Prof. Igor Emri?s time in Caltech -- Numerical simulation for tensile strength of discontinuous CFRP considering viscoelastic entropy damage -- Mechanical spectral hole burning of polymethyl methacrylate to probe nonlinear viscoelastic behavior -- Time dependent deformation and failure behavior of discontinuous fiber reinforced polymers -- Accelerated testing methodology for durability of polymer composites based on the viscoelastic behavior of matrix resin -- Applicability of ?spring-loading? methodology for comprehensive characterization of hybrid structures exhibiting simultaneous creep and relaxation -- Coupled Poroviscoelastic Response of Engineered Bacterial Biofilms- Application of time-temperature superposition principle -- Viscoelastic and viscoplasticbehavior of polymer and composite -- Using asymptotic homogenization in parametric space to determine effective thermo-viscoelastic properties of fibrous composites -- Tensegrity modeling of the viscoelastic cell behavior -- Thermorheological analysis and kinetic modelling of thermo-oxidative degradation of polyethylene -- Quantitative characterization of cracks and contact stresses using photoviscoelasticity. 330 $aThis book presents current trends in Mechanics of Time Dependent Materials. It covers a number of cutting-edge themes, such as characterization of linear and nonlinear mechanical behavior of viscoelastic materials and their composites, taking into consideration large deformations, low, moderate and large strain rates, as well as failure and fracture phenomena. The contributions are inspired by advanced applications in modern technologies, such as injection molding and extrusion. . 410 0$aAdvanced Structured Materials,$x1869-8441 ;$v188 606 $aMechanics, Applied 606 $aEngineering Mechanics 615 0$aMechanics, Applied. 615 14$aEngineering Mechanics. 676 $a620.11292 676 $a620.11292 702 $aAltenbach$b Holm 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910682594603321 996 $aAdvances in mechanics of time-dependent materials$93374119 997 $aUNINA
