Her study aims to show that the three discussions emerge because of apparently opposite claims about the signification of words in the authoritative literature of the period, namely in Aristotle, Boethius and Priscian. It also shows that the three discussions develop in the same direction ? towards a unified use of the notion of signification, which keeps its explanatory role in semiotics, but loses its role in grammar and logic. Mora-Márquez offers us the first exhaustive analysis of the scholarly discussions around the notion of signification in the pre-nominalist medieval tradition. 410 0$aInvestigating medieval philosophy ;$vv. 10. 606 $aReference (Linguistics) 606 $aSignification (Logic) 615 0$aReference (Linguistics) 615 0$aSignification (Logic) 676 $a401/.43 700 $aMora-Ma?rquez$b Ana Mari?a$01649942 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910810482803321 996 $aThe thirteenth-century notion of signification$93999038 997 $aUNINA
