Waite argues convincingly that, from 1536 to 1539, Joris was the most influential Anabaptist leader in the Netherlands. Adopting a middle path between the revolutionary chiliasm of the M?nster Anabaptist kingdom and the radical separatism of Menno Simons and his flock, Joris sought to unite the splintered Melchiorite movement unde rhis leadership. However, as Waite notes, history has been unkind to Joris. 606 $aAnabaptists$zNetherlands$xHistory 606 $aAnabaptists$zNetherlands$vBiography 606 $aDavidists$vBiography 607 $aNetherlands$xChurch history$y16th century 615 0$aAnabaptists$xHistory. 615 0$aAnabaptists 615 0$aDavidists 676 $a284.3 700 $aWaite$b Gary K.$f1955-$01632711 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910809901603321 996 $aDavid Joris and Dutch Anabaptism, 1524-1543$94004810 997 $aUNINA
