On this background (even though the volume of the lexicographic material is ample) the English-Latvian lexicographic tradition looks rather traditional and even somewhat stagnant. Thus, there is an urgent need for a detailed analytical inventory of English-Latvian dictionaries in order to facilitate new dictionary projects. This book provides a comprehensive survey of the development of the English-Latvian lexicographic tradition considering the various extra-linguistic factors which have influenced it. It studies the typical features of English-Latvian dictionaries traced throughout the tradition at the levels of their mega-, macro- and microstructure, pinpoints the problematic aspects of English-Latvian lexicography and offers theoretically grounded solutions for improving the quality of future English-Latvian dictionaries. 410 0$aLexicographica.$pSeries maior ;$vVolume 148. 606 $aLexicography 606 $aDictionaries, Polyglot 606 $aEnglish language$vDictionaries$xLatvian 610 $aBilingual Dictionary. 610 $aEnglish. 610 $aLatvian. 615 0$aLexicography. 615 0$aDictionaries, Polyglot. 615 0$aEnglish language$xLatvian. 676 $a413.028 686 $aHE 322$2rvk 700 $aKarpinska$b Laura$01649138 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910808180603321 996 $aEnglish-Latvian lexicographic tradition$93997716 997 $aUNINA
