The findings, based on 35-year panel data, indicate that growth rates of real GDP, private consumption and private investment in regional countries are strongly associated with remittance outflows from and the accumulation of financial surpluses in the GCC. Unlike in other developing and emerging market countries, growth in regional countries is not influenced by growth in the North, and is not export led. Linkages with the GCC could help sustain output growth in the regional countries in the face of the global economic slowdown and oil price shocks and could provide diversification gains to international capital seeking markets uncorrelated with Northern and emerging market countries. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2008/167 606 $aPetroleum industry and trade 606 $aExports and Imports$2imf 606 $aFinance: General$2imf 606 $aInvestments: General$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aRemittances$2imf 606 $aEnergy: Demand and Supply$2imf 606 $aPrices$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics: Consumption$2imf 606 $aSaving$2imf 606 $aWealth$2imf 606 $aGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)$2imf 606 $aInvestment$2imf 606 $aCapital$2imf 606 $aIntangible Capital$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aInternational economics$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aOil prices$2imf 606 $aPrivate consumption$2imf 606 $aEmerging and frontier financial markets$2imf 606 $aPrivate investment$2imf 606 $aInternational finance$2imf 606 $aConsumption$2imf 606 $aEconomics$2imf 606 $aFinancial services industry$2imf 606 $aSaving and investment$2imf 607 $aUnited States$2imf 615 0$aPetroleum industry and trade. 615 7$aExports and Imports 615 7$aFinance: General 615 7$aInvestments: General 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aRemittances 615 7$aEnergy: Demand and Supply 615 7$aPrices 615 7$aMacroeconomics: Consumption 615 7$aSaving 615 7$aWealth 615 7$aGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data) 615 7$aInvestment 615 7$aCapital 615 7$aIntangible Capital 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aInternational economics 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aOil prices 615 7$aPrivate consumption 615 7$aEmerging and frontier financial markets 615 7$aPrivate investment 615 7$aInternational finance 615 7$aConsumption 615 7$aEconomics 615 7$aFinancial services industry 615 7$aSaving and investment 676 $a338.27282 700 $aIlahi$b Nadeem$01688435 701 $aShendy$b Riham$01592810 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910808099203321 996 $aDo the Gulf Oil-Producing Countries Influence Regional Growth?
