The volume is intended for both students and researchers, and not only presents a survey of the geometric methods developed in the last thirty years to understand the famous Bloch-Beilinson conjectures, but also examines recent work by Voisin. The book focuses on two central objects: the diagonal of a variety-and the partial Bloch-Srinivas type decompositions it may have depending on the size of Chow groups-as well as its small diagonal, which is the right object to consider in order to understand the ring structure on Chow groups and cohomology. An exploration of a sampling of recent works by Voisin looks at the relation, conjectured in general by Bloch and Beilinson, between the coniveau of general complete intersections and their Chow groups and a very particular property satisfied by the Chow ring of K3 surfaces and conjecturally by hyper-Kähler manifolds. In particular, the book delves into arguments originating in Nori's work that have been further developed by others. 410 0$aAnnals of Mathematics Studies 606 $aAlgebraic varieties 606 $aDecomposition (Mathematics) 606 $aHomology theory 606 $aMathematics 606 $aAlgebraic varieties 606 $aDecomposition (Mathematics) 606 $aHomology theory 610 $aBloch-Beilinson conjectures. 610 $aCalabi?au hypersurfaces. 610 $aChow groups. 610 $aHodge classes. 610 $aHodge coniveau. 610 $aHodge structures. 610 $aK3 surfaces. 610 $aLefschetz standard conjecture. 610 $aMumford's theorem. 610 $aZ-coefficients. 610 $aabelian varieties. 610 $abirational invariants. 610 $acohomology. 610 $acomplex algebraic varieties. 610 $aconiveau. 610 $acycle classes. 610 $adecomposition isomorphism. 610 $adecomposition. 610 $adense Zariski open set. 610 $adiagonal. 610 $afunctoriality. 610 $ageneralized Bloch conjecture. 610 $ageneralized Hodge conjecture. 610 $ageometric coniveau. 610 $ahyper-Khler manifolds. 610 $aintegral coefficients. 610 $aintegral cohomological decomposition. 610 $amixed Hodge structures. 610 $aprojective space. 610 $arational equivalence. 610 $asmall diagonal. 610 $asmooth projective varieties. 610 $aspreading principle. 610 $atorsion coefficients. 610 $atranscendental cohomology. 610 $aunramified cohomology. 610 $avariety. 615 0$aAlgebraic varieties. 615 0$aDecomposition (Mathematics). 615 0$aHomology theory. 615 0$aMathematics. 615 0$aAlgebraic varieties 615 0$aDecomposition (Mathematics) 615 0$aHomology theory 676 $a516.35 686 $aSI 830$2rvk 700 $aVoisin$b Claire$0350778 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910790854503321 996 $aChow Rings, Decomposition of the Diagonal, and the Topology of Families (AM-187)$93674412 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03802nam 2200985 450 001 9910807938703321 005 20200520144314.0 010 $a0-520-95709-1 024 7 $a10.1525/9780520957091 035 $a(CKB)2550000001160020 035 $a(EBL)1543758 035 $a(OCoLC)863040725 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001041717 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12399173 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001041717 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11048648 035 $a(PQKB)11442243 035 $a(DE-B1597)520643 035 $a(OCoLC)1058176477 035 $a(DE-B1597)9780520957091 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL1543758 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10797446 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL543225 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1543758 035 $a(EXLCZ)992550000001160020 100 $a20130731h20142014 ub 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aVietnamese colonial republican $ethe political vision of Vu? Vu Trong Phung is known for a remarkable collection of politically provocative novels and sensational works of non-fiction reportage that were banned by the communist state from 1960 to 1986. Leading Vietnam scholar, Zinoman, resurrects the life and work of an important intellectual and author in order to reveal a neglected political project that is excluded from conventional accounts of modern Vietnamese political history. He sees Vu Trong Phung as a leading proponent of a localized republican tradition that opposed colonialism, communism, and unfettered capitalism-and that led both to the banning of his work and to the durability of his popular appeal in Vietnam today. 606 $aSocial change$zVietnam 607 $aVietnam$xIntellectual life$y20th century 610 $aanticommunism. 610 $aasian history. 610 $acolonialism. 610 $acommunism. 610 $acommunist state. 610 $acommunist. 610 $acomprehensive study. 610 $acontroversial 20th century writer. 610 $ademocracy. 610 $adiplomacy. 610 $aempire. 610 $aengaging. 610 $agovernment and governing. 610 $ahistorical. 610 $ahistory of vietnam. 610 $ahuman condition. 610 $aimperialism. 610 $aindochina. 610 $alively. 610 $apage turner. 610 $apolitical history. 610 $apolitical project. 610 $apolitical. 610 $apolitically provocative novels. 610 $apopular appeal. 610 $areportage. 610 $asensational works. 610 $asoutheast asia. 610 $aunfettered capitalism. 610 $avietnam. 610 $avietnamese history. 610 $avu trong phung. 615 0$aSocial change 676 $a895.92233 700 $aZinoman$b Peter$f1965-$01012972 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910807938703321 996 $aVietnamese colonial republican$93978443 997 $aUNINA
