Although the Chinese civilization did not develop a comprehensive semiotics system in that period, they are highly semiotic in many ways. The thinking and application of signs of Chinese people can be found in many classics, such as The Book of Changes, The Analects of Confucius, Tao De Jing and Zhuangzi. This book begins its study by re-examining the semiotic thoughts contained in The Book of Changes and inquiries into the thoughts of the major philosophers of different schools. It provides insights into the findings of these philosophers concerning the relationship between sign and meaning. In particular, it concentrates on how the prosperity of the various contending semiotic thoughts complemented each other in forming a sign system. In addition, the book also emphasizes the wholeness and associativity of observing things and studying relevant signs of Chinese people. As the first monograph in any language to systematically summarize Chinese semiotic thought in the Pre-Imperial period, this book helps promote understanding of the traditional Chinese culture and mindset. 410 0$aChina Academic Library,$x2195-1861 606 $aSemiotics 606 $aPhilosophy, Chinese 606 $aPhilosophy, Modern 606 $aPhilosophy$xHistory 606 $aLanguage and languages$xPhilosophy 606 $aPhilosophy 606 $aSemiotics 606 $aChinese Philosophy 606 $aPhilosophical Traditions 606 $aHistory of Philosophy 606 $aPhilosophy of Language 606 $aIntercultural Philosophy and Religious Traditions 615 0$aSemiotics. 615 0$aPhilosophy, Chinese. 615 0$aPhilosophy, Modern. 615 0$aPhilosophy$xHistory. 615 0$aLanguage and languages$xPhilosophy. 615 0$aPhilosophy. 615 14$aSemiotics. 615 24$aChinese Philosophy. 615 24$aPhilosophical Traditions. 615 24$aHistory of Philosophy. 615 24$aPhilosophy of Language. 615 24$aIntercultural Philosophy and Religious Traditions. 676 $a181.11 700 $aZhu$b Dong$f1746-$01587957 702 $aRen$b Wei 702 $aPeng$b Jia 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910800112403321 996 $aChinese Semiotic Thoughts in the Pre-Imperial Age$93876753 997 $aUNINA
