Contributions cover his Huguenot heritage and later influence on the French antislavery movement (which had never been explored as thoroughly before) as well as his Quaker faith and connections with the Quaker community in the British Atlantic world (in the North American colonies as well as in Britain). Beyond the Quaker community, his preoccupation with Africa is highlighted, and further research is also encouraged reconciling Benezet studies with those on black rebels and founders in the Atlantic world. 410 0$aEarly American history series ;$vVolume 5. 606 $aAbolitionists$zFrance$vBiography 606 $aAbolitionists$zUnited States$vBiography 606 $aAntislavery movements$zUnited States$xHistory$y18th century 606 $aAntislavery movements$zFrance$xHistory$y18th century 607 $aPhiladelphia (Pa.)$vBiography 615 0$aAbolitionists 615 0$aAbolitionists 615 0$aAntislavery movements$xHistory 615 0$aAntislavery movements$xHistory 676 $a326/.8092 702 $aRossignol$b Marie-Jeanne 702 $aVan Ruymbeke$b Bertrand$f1962- 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910798664403321 996 $aThe Atlantic world of Anthony Benezet (1713-1784)$93671238 997 $aUNINA
