One of the most conspicuous outcomes of this process was the building or rebuilding of new court palaces, erected as prestigious residences in accord with the new ?classical? principles of Renaissance architecture. The novelties, however, went far beyond architectural forms: they involved the reorganisation of courtly interiors and their functions, new uses for the buildings, and the relationship between the palaces and their surroundings. The whole urban setting was affected by these processes, and therefore the social, residential and political customs of its inhabitants. This is the focus of A Renaissance Architecture of Power , which aims to analyse from a comparative perspective the evolution of Italian court palaces in the Renaissance in their entirety. Contributors are Silvia Beltramo, Flavia Cantatore, Bianca de Divitiis, Emanuela Ferretti, Marco Folin, Giulio Girondi, Andrea Longhi, Marco Rosario Nobile, Aurora Scotti, Elena Svalduz, and Stefano Zaggia. 410 0$aMedieval Mediterranean ;$vVolume 104. 606 $aArchitecture, Renaissance$zItaly$xHistory 606 $aArchitecture and state$zItaly$xHistory$yTo 1500 606 $aArchitecture and state$zItaly$xHistory$y16th century 606 $aPower (Social sciences)$zItaly$xHistory 606 $aPrinces$xDwellings$zItaly$xHistory 606 $aPalaces$zItaly$xHistory 606 $aRenaissance$zItaly 607 $aItaly$xKings and rulers$xDwellings$xHistory 607 $aItaly$xPolitics and government$y1268-1559 607 $aItaly$xHistory, Local 615 0$aArchitecture, Renaissance$xHistory. 615 0$aArchitecture and state$xHistory 615 0$aArchitecture and state$xHistory 615 0$aPower (Social sciences)$xHistory. 615 0$aPrinces$xDwellings$xHistory. 615 0$aPalaces$xHistory. 615 0$aRenaissance 676 $a720.945/09024 702 $aBeltramo$b Silvia 702 $aCantatore$b Flavia 702 $aFolin$b Marco 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910798149603321 996 $aA renaissance architecture of power$93707458 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04002nam 22006731 450 001 9910964977803321 005 20140401161236.0 010 $a9781501316319 010 $a1501316311 010 $a9781501302022 010 $a1501302027 010 $a9781628921564 010 $a1628921560 024 7 $a10.5040/9781501302022 035 $a(CKB)2550000001302462 035 $a(EBL)1692254 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001193811 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12395710 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001193811 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)11147660 035 $a(PQKB)11372985 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1692254 035 $a(OCoLC)1167544350 035 $a(UtOrBLW)bpp09258266 035 $a(UtOrBLW)BP9781501302022BC 035 $a(EXLCZ)992550000001302462 100 $a20150227d2014 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 12$aA cornerstone of modern diplomacy $eBritain and the negotiation of the 1961 Vienna convention on diplomatic relations /$fKai Bruns 210 1$aNew York :$cBloomsbury Academic,$d2014. 215 $a1 online resource (249 p.) 225 0 $aKey studies in diplomacy 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 08$a9781628921540 311 08$a1628921544 311 08$a9781306798525 311 08$a1306798523 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aList of Figures and Tables ; Acknowledgements ; Abbreviations ; Introduction -- Part One The Preparatory Stage: 1949-60. The agreement and its negotiation have become a cornerstone of diplomatic law. A Cornerstone of Modern Diplomacy, which is based on archival research in the National Archives (London), the Austrian State Archives (Vienna) and the Political Archive (Berlin), delivers the first study of the British policy during the negotiation of the key convention governing diplomatic privileges and immunities: the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The book provides a complete commentary on the political aspects of the codification process of diplomatic law. By clearly presenting the case with accessible analysis, author Kai Bruns makes the relations between international law and politics understandable, stressing the impact of the emergence of the third world in UN diplomacy. This unique study is a crucial piece of scholarship, shedding light on the practice of United Nations conference diplomacy and the codification of diplomatic law at the height of the Cold War."--Bloomsbury Publishing. 410 0$aKey studies in diplomacy. 606 $aDiplomatic and consular service 606 $aDiplomatic privileges and immunities 606 $2International relations 607 $aGreat Britain$xForeign relations$y1945-1964 615 0$aDiplomatic and consular service. 615 0$aDiplomatic privileges and immunities. 676 $a341.3/3 700 $aBruns$b Kai$01798159 801 0$bUtOrBLW 801 1$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910964977803321 996 $aA cornerstone of modern diplomacy$94340785 997 $aUNINA
