Methodological strategies -- pt. 2. East Asian starting points -- pt. 3. Pye understands the study of religions to be an international enterprise with roots in both European and East Asian culture. This relates to his active role in the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR), as a former General Secretary and President. The work is presented in seven sections, which could be used in teaching assignments. The first volume begins with a lively introduction on "Methodological Strategies," followed by "East Asian Starting Points," a radical attempt to overcome Eurocentrism, and "Structures and Strategies," which tackles globally significant institutional and ideological questions. The second volume presents selected strands in the study of religions. "Comparing and Contrasting" is followed by "Tradition and Innovation," including reference to specific new religions. "Transplantation and Syncretism" is a definitive package on syncretism and includes new materials from South-East Asia. Finally, "Contextual Questions" explores wider themes of identity, plurality, dialogue of religions, religious education, and peace. These show how relevant the study of religions can be -when it is distinctly and responsibly defined. 410 0$aReligion and reason ;$v51. 606 $aReligions$xStudy and teaching 610 $aMethodology. 610 $aNew Religions. 610 $aStudy of Religions. 610 $aSyncretism. 610 $aTradition. 615 0$aReligions$xStudy and teaching. 676 $a200.71 700 $aPye$b Michael$0603109 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910789082603321 996 $aStrategies in the study of religions$93686817 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03111nam 2200505 450 001 9910797734103321 005 20170918174440.0 010 $a1-4985-2272-6 035 $a(CKB)3710000000514611 035 $a(EBL)4097303 035 $a(OCoLC)932332359 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001581217 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)16259746 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001581217 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)14830368 035 $a(PQKB)11658742 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4097303 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000514611 100 $a20151211h20162016 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aConversations on Fethullah Gu?len and the Hizmet Movement $edreaming for a better world /$fedited by Peter Barnes and Gregory Baum 210 1$aLanham, Maryland :$cLexington Books,$d2016. 210 4$dİ2016 215 $a1 online resource (141 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a1-4985-2271-8 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aContents; Preface; Conversations on Fethullah Gu?len and the Hizmet Movement: Dreaming for a Better World; 1: The Gu?len (Hizmet) Movement Education Model and Interfaith/Intercultural Dialogue; Chapter One: Ethics in Engineering and Science Education: Fethullah Gu?len's Model; Chapter Two: Peace Begins with You and Me; 2: The Gu?len (Hizmet) Movement Spirituality Comparisons; Chapter Three: Fethullah Gu?len and Fr.
