It assesses the extent to which Bank interventions have contributed to growth and poverty reduction and the effectiveness of different types of interventions. The review uses the key elements of the Bank's 2001 poverty reduction strategy to examine the extent to which these elements respond to the needs of the poor, are actually being carried out, and are having an impact. 410 0$aIndependent Evaluation Group Studies 410 0$aWorld Bank e-Library. 606 $aEconomic development projects$xFinance$xEvaluation 606 $aLoans, Foreign$zDeveloping countries$vStatistics 615 0$aEconomic development projects$xFinance$xEvaluation. 615 0$aLoans, Foreign 676 $a332.1532 700 $aGerrard$b Christopher D.$f1951-$01494467 712 02$aWorld Bank.$bOperations Evaluation Dept. 801 0$bDJBF 801 1$bDJBF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910783341203321 996 $a2004 Annual Review of Development Effectiveness$93718015 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05491nam 2200733 450 001 9910797440303321 005 20231006151913.0 010 $a1-5015-0295-6 010 $a1-5015-0302-2 024 7 $a10.1515/9781501503023 035 $a(CKB)3710000000455749 035 $a(EBL)2129555 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001589317 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)16275550 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001589317 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)14872173 035 $a(PQKB)11589690 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC2129555 035 $a(DE-B1597)455153 035 $a(OCoLC)918623349 035 $a(DE-B1597)9781501503023 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL2129555 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr11088129 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL816980 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000455749 100 $a20160212h20152015 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurun#---|u||u 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aCulture and foreign language education $einsights from research and implications for the practice /$fedited by Wai Meng Chan [and three others] 210 1$aBoston, [Massachusetts] ;$aBerlin, [Germany] :$cDe Gruyter Mouton,$d2015. 210 4$dİ2015 215 $a1 online resource (388 pages) 225 1 $aStudies in Second and Foreign Language Education,$x2192-0982 ;$v10. 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a1-5015-1094-0 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references at the end of each chapters and index. 327 $tFront matter --$tPreface --$tContents --$tChapter 1. This book presents insights from recent research on the role of culture in second/foreign and heritage language education. It contains 14 chapters including an introductory chapter that discusses diachronically the evolving notion of culture and how the sociocultural view of culture as a complex and dynamic concept informs language teaching and language learning research. The chapters following the introduction are organised in four parts focusing on: 1) the teacher's role in integrated language and culture learning; 2) the interrelationship between culture, identity, and language learning and use; 3) the effect of culture on learner characteristics which impact language learning processes and outcomes; and 4) curriculum development aimed at fostering language and culture learning. The chapters in Parts 1 to 3 present contributions from current research - either in the form of the authors' original studies or comprehensive reviews of relevant essential research - which bears important implications for curricular practice in foreign language and language teacher education. This close link between research, theory and practice is also maintained in the two chapters in Part 4, which present developmental projects based on well-grounded theoretical frameworks. 410 0$aStudies in second and foreign language education ;$v10. 606 $aLanguage and languages$xStudy and teaching 606 $aLanguage and culture$xStudy and teaching 606 $aSecond language acquisition$xSocial aspects 606 $aIntercultural communication 610 $aCulture. 610 $aForeign Language Education. 610 $aLanguage Teaching. 610 $aSecond Language Acquisition. 615 0$aLanguage and languages$xStudy and teaching. 615 0$aLanguage and culture$xStudy and teaching. 615 0$aSecond language acquisition$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aIntercultural communication. 676 $a418.0071 686 $aES 750$2rvk 702 $aChan$b Wai Meng$f1962- 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910797440303321 996 $aCulture and foreign language education$93841423 997 $aUNINA
