Whereas the Ottoman and later the Turkish army were the main beneficiaries of this selective appropriation, the German armed forces evaluated their (prospective) ally?s military experiences to a lesser extent. Through the analysis of archival and published sources and memoir literature the study provides evidence for the impact of this exchange on the armies of both countries and on the Turkish civil society. Indeed, the officer corps in both countries was a small but influential group of the society for the further development of their nations. 606 $aMilitary relations$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01353799 607 $aGermany$xHistory, Military 607 $aGermany$xMilitary relations$zTurkey 607 $aTurkey$xMilitary relations$zGermany 608 $aMilitary history.$2fast 608 $aAcademic theses.$2lcgft 615 7$aMilitary relations. 676 $a943 700 $aGruesshaber$b Gerhard$01577569 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910796770203321 996 $aThe 'German Spirit' in the Ottoman and Turkish army, 1908-1938$93856236 997 $aUNINA
