In this treatment, crucial materials aspects for design and optimization of SPR sensors are investigated and described in detail. The text covers a selection of nanometer thin metal films, ranging from free-electron to the platinum-type conductors, along with their combination with a large variety of dielectric substrate materials, and associated individual layer and opto-geometric arrangements. Whereas the first edition treated solely the metal-liquid interface, the SP-resonance conditions considered here are expanded to cover the metal-gas interface in the angular and wavelength interrogation modes, localized and long-range SP's and the influence of native oxidic ad-layers in the case of non-noble metals. Furthermore, a selection of metal grating structures that allow SP excitation is presented, as are features of radiative SP's. Finally, this treatise includes as-yet hardly explored SPR features of selected metal?metal and metal?dielectric superlattices. An in-depth multilayer Fresnel evaluation provides the mathematical tool for this optical analysis, which otherwise relies solely on experimentally determined electro-optical materials parameters. 410 0$aSpringer Series in Surface Sciences,$x0931-5195 ;$v70 606 $aSurfaces (Physics) 606 $aInterfaces (Physical sciences) 606 $aThin films 606 $aOptical materials 606 $aElectronics$xMaterials 606 $aLasers 606 $aPhotonics 606 $aSurfaces (Technology) 606 $aSurface and Interface Science, Thin Films$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P25160 606 $aOptical and Electronic Materials$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z12000 606 $aOptics, Lasers, Photonics, Optical Devices$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P31030 606 $aSurfaces and Interfaces, Thin Films$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z19000 615 0$aSurfaces (Physics) 615 0$aInterfaces (Physical sciences) 615 0$aThin films. 615 0$aOptical materials. 615 0$aElectronics$xMaterials. 615 0$aLasers. 615 0$aPhotonics. 615 0$aSurfaces (Technology) 615 14$aSurface and Interface Science, Thin Films. 615 24$aOptical and Electronic Materials. 615 24$aOptics, Lasers, Photonics, Optical Devices. 615 24$aSurfaces and Interfaces, Thin Films. 676 $a530.417 676 $a530.44 700 $aOliveira$b Leiva Casemiro$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01061448 702 $aLima$b Antonio Marcus Nogueira$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aThirstrup$b Carsten$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 702 $aNeff$b Helmut Franz$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910337869003321 996 $aSurface Plasmon Resonance Sensors$92518846 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02355oas 2200697 a 450 001 9910679373703321 005 20251106213014.0 035 $a(OCoLC)56450957 035 $a(CONSER) 2018238073 035 $a(CKB)1000000000768659 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000768659 100 $a20040908b19982016 sy 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aJournal of family ecology and consumer sciences =$eTydskrif vir gesinsekologie en verbruikerswetenskappe 210 $aMenlopark $cSouth African Association for Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences = Suid-Afrikaanse Vereniging vir Gesinsekologie en Verbruikerswetenskappe$d1998- 215 $a1 online resource 311 08$a1682-6299 330 $aThe Journal of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences will publish review and research articles pertaining to foods and nutrition; clothing; housing; the functioning and development of the individual and the family throughout the life cycle; management of personal, social, and material resources in small and big households and in the community; consumer behavior; and professional practice. 517 3 $aTydskrif vir gesinsekologie en verbruikerswetenskappe 606 $aHome economics$vPeriodicals 606 $aDietetics$vPeriodicals 606 $aDietetics$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00893353 606 $aHome economics$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00959173 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 608 $aZeitschrift.$2gnd-content 615 0$aHome economics 615 0$aDietetics 615 7$aDietetics. 615 7$aHome economics. 676 $a059.999 712 02$aSouth African Association for Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences, 801 0$bBUF 801 1$bBUF 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bSTF 801 2$bHEBIS 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bUAB 801 2$bP4A 801 2$bAU@ 801 2$bDEBBG 801 2$bFIE 801 2$bIUL 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bIUL 801 2$bBWN 801 2$bEUX 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bOCLCL 801 2$bOCLCQ 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910679373703321 996 $aJournal of family ecology and consumer sciences$92201793 997 $aUNINA
