The field of regenerative medicine is broad and includes research and development components of gene and cell therapies, tissue engineering, and non-biologic constructs. Although regenerative medicine has the potential to improve health and deliver economic benefits, this relatively new field faces challenges to developing policies and procedures to support the development of novel therapies are both safe and effective. In October 2016, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine hosted a public workshop with the goal of developing a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with regenerative medicine cellular therapies and related technologies. Participants explored the state of the science of cell-based regenerative therapies within the larger context of patient care and policy. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop"--Publisher's description. 606 $aRegenerative medicine$vCongresses 606 $aRegenerative medicine$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01745494 608 $aConference papers and proceedings.$2fast 615 0$aRegenerative medicine 615 7$aRegenerative medicine. 676 $a571.8/89 700 $aMarkowitz-Shulman$b Ariel$01528417 702 $aForstag$b Erin Hammers 702 $aAddie$b Siobhan 702 $aBeachy$b Sarah H. 712 02$aNational Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (U.S.).$bForum on Regenerative Medicine, 712 12$aState of the Science in the Field of Regenerative Medicine: Challenges of and Opportunities for Cellular Therapies: a Workshop$f(2016 :$eWashington, D.C.),$bauthor. 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910795921903321 996 $aExploring the state of the science in the field of regenerative medicine$93771982 997 $aUNINA
