During this time, Irving Greenberg developed a unique theology that anticipated David Hollinger's notion of postethnicity and represents a compelling understanding of contemporary American Jewish identity. Greenberg's covenantal theology and image of God idea combine into what Kleinberg refers to as Hybrid Judaism. Central to Greenberg's theology is recognition of the transformative power of encounter in an open society, heavily influenced by his own encounters across Jewish denominational boundaries and through his participation in the Christian-Jewish dialogue movement. Presented here for the first time, Greenberg's theology of Hybrid Judaism has great relevance for our understanding of American Jewish identity in the twenty-first century. 410 0$aStudies in Orthodox Judaism. 606 $aRabbis$zUnited States$vBiography 606 $aMulticulturalism$xReligious aspects$xJudaism 615 0$aRabbis 615 0$aMulticulturalism$xReligious aspects$xJudaism. 676 $a296.832092 686 $aNY 4900$2rvk 700 $aKleinberg$b Darren$01527728 701 $aDollinger$b Marc$01527729 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910798980003321 996 $aHybrid judaism$93770831 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04398nam 2200409 450 001 9910795762403321 005 20221114235155.0 010 $a3-8382-7563-2 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6952124 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6952124 035 $a(CKB)21510943700041 035 $a(EXLCZ)9921510943700041 100 $a20221114d2022 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aGlobal perspectives on megatrends $ethe future as seen by analysts and researchers from different world regions /$fBerthold M.
