The former socialist model city of Hoyerswerda is an extreme case of a declining postindustrial city. Built to serve the GDR coal industry, it lost over half its population to outmigration after German reunification and the coal industry crisis, leading to the large-scale deconstruction of its cityscape. This book tells the story of its inhabitants, now forced to reconsider their futures. Building on recent theoretical work, it advances a new anthropological approach to time, allowing us to investigate the postindustrial era and the futures it has supposedly lost. 410 0$aEASA series ;$v33. 606 $aDeindustrialization$zGermany 606 $aCoal trade$zGermany$zHoyerswerda 607 $aHoyerswerda (Germany)$xSocial conditions 610 $aanthropological approach. 610 $aanthropology. 610 $acareer. 610 $acitizens. 610 $acity life. 610 $acoal industry. 610 $acontemporary. 610 $acultural. 610 $adecline. 610 $aengaging. 610 $agerman history. 610 $agerman reunification. 610 $ahistorical. 610 $ahistory of anthropology. 610 $ahistory of germany. 610 $ahoyerswerda. 610 $ahuman condition. 610 $aindustry. 610 $alifetime. 610 $aoutmigration. 610 $apolitical science. 610 $apolitics. 610 $apostindustrial era. 610 $apostindustrial. 610 $aretrospective. 610 $asocial issues. 610 $asocial science. 610 $asocialist model city. 610 $asocialist model. 610 $asociology. 610 $aurban community. 610 $aurban sociology. 615 0$aDeindustrialization 615 0$aCoal trade 676 $a943/.186 700 $aRingel$b Felix$01515096 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910795409803321 996 $aBack to the postindustrial future$93750639 997 $aUNINA
