Contemporaries Describe the Expulsion 520. 330 $aThe Expulsion of the Jews from Spain' is a detailed study of the events surrounding this infamous chapter in Spanish history. Based on hundreds of documents discovered, deciphered, and analyzed during decades of intensive archival research, this work focuses on the practical consequences of the expulsion both for those expelled and those remaining behind. It responds to basic questions such as: What became of property owned by Jewish individuals and communities? What became of outstanding debts between Jews and Christians? How was the edict of expulsion implemented? Who was in charge? How did they operate? What happened to those who converted to Christianity in order to remain in Spain or return to that country? The material summarized and analyzed in this study also sheds light on Jewish life in Spain preceding the expulsion. For example, Jews are shown to have been present in remote villages where they were not hitherto known to have lived, and documents detailing lawsuits between Christians related to debts left behind by Jews reveal much about business and financial relations between Jews and Christians. By focusing on the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in such detail - for example, by naming the magistrates who presided over the confiscation of Jewish communal property - Professor Beinart takes history out of the realm of abstraction and gives it concrete reality. 410 0$aLittman library of Jewish civilization (Series) 606 $aJews$zSpain$xHistory$yExpulsion, 1492 606 $aSephardim$xHistory 607 $aSpain$xEthnic relations 615 0$aJews$xHistory 615 0$aSephardim$xHistory. 676 $a946/.004924 700 $aBeinart$b Haim$0197619 702 $aGreen$b Jeffrey M. 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910793043503321 996 $aThe Expulsion of the Jews from Spain$93815735 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04090nam 2200973z- 450 001 9910557525803321 005 20210501 035 $a(CKB)5400000000044320 035 $a(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/68266 035 $a(oapen)doab68266 035 $a(EXLCZ)995400000000044320 100 $a20202105d2021 |y 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmn|---annan 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aEnvironmental Energy Sustainability at Universities 210 $aBasel, Switzerland$cMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute$d2021 215 $a1 online resource (220 p.) 311 08$a3-03943-765-8 311 08$a3-03943-766-6 330 $aThe use of renewable energies and energy saving and efficiency are needs of global society and universities. Universities have a large responsibility and social impact, as they are an example and engine of social change. Universities, in the European context, must be at the forefront of ESA processes, seeking to be at the same level as, and preferably higher than, the rest of society, seeking a goal of 20% renewable energy for 2020 and, in the longer term, greater energy efficiency based on a diverse use of renewable energy and studying the feasibility of other energy processes (cogeneration, trigeneration, etc.). The application of renewable energies and energy efficiency allow universities to make significant savings in their costs and contribute to sustainable development and the fight against climate change. Actions in pursuit of these goals in addition to the objective of energy saving should promote research and form an example for the university community. This book aims to advance the contribution of energy saving and the use of renewable energies in order to achieve more sustainable universities. 606 $aHistory of engineering and technology$2bicssc 610 $abenchmark 610 $abibliometric 610 $abibliometrics 610 $abioclimatic architecture 610 $abiomass boiler 610 $abuilding information modeling (BIM) 610 $acampus energy consumption 610 $aclustering 610 $acommunity detection 610 $aconstant power load 610 $acovenant of Mayors 610 $aDC microgrid 610 $aelectric generation 610 $aenergy 610 $aenergy consumption 610 $aenergy efficiency 610 $aenergy efficiency indicators 610 $aenergy management system 610 $aenergy model 610 $aenergy saving 610 $aenergy saving in data processing centres 610 $aenergy saving in laboratories 610 $aenergy storage system 610 $agreen campus 610 $agreenhouse gases 610 $aheating and cooling degree-days 610 $ahigher education institution 610 $alaw 610 $alegal aspects 610 $aloquat seed 610 $aMexico 610 $aoccupancy rate 610 $aphotovoltaic 610 $aphotovoltaic (PV) system 610 $aphotovoltaic system (PVS) 610 $apitch control 610 $apower generation control 610 $arenewable energy 610 $asmart contracts 610 $asocial responsibility 610 $aSpain 610 $asustainability 610 $asustainability assessment 610 $asustainable transport 610 $aUNAM 610 $auniversities 610 $auniversity environmental impact 610 $aurban planning 610 $awind turbine 610 $azapote seed 610 $azero-energy buildings 615 7$aHistory of engineering and technology 700 $aMontoya$b Francisco G$4edt$01279132 702 $aPerea Moreno$b Alberto Jesús$4edt 702 $aMontoya$b Francisco G$4oth 702 $aPerea Moreno$b Alberto Jesús$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557525803321 996 $aEnvironmental Energy Sustainability at Universities$93018935 997 $aUNINA
