Health literacy can be difficult to assess, however, as it is not only a measure of individuals' understanding of health information at various points in time but also a measure of how well various health care systems have been organized. In addition, there is no agreement upon how to judge the effects of health literacy. Existing measures do not capture enough data to understand fully how health literacy influences health or what can be done to improve health literacy. The Roundtable on Health Literacy held a workshop on February 26, 2009, to examine what is known about measures of health literacy, in particular: the current status of measures of health literacy, including those used in the health care setting, other possible measures that might be used to assess health literacy, and ways in which health literacy measures can be used to assess approaches to health care."--Publisher's description. 606 $aHealth education$zUnited States 606 $aPatient education$zUnited States 606 $aHealth education$zUnited States$xEvaluation 606 $aPatient education$zUnited States$xEvaluation 615 0$aHealth education 615 0$aPatient education 615 0$aHealth education$xEvaluation. 615 0$aPatient education$xEvaluation. 676 $a613.071 701 $aHernandez$b Lyla M$01094183 712 02$aInstitute of Medicine (U.S.).$bRoundtable on Health Literacy. 712 02$aInstitute of Medicine (U.S.).$bBoard on Population Health and Public Health Practice. 712 12$aWorkshop on Measures of Health Literacy$f(2009 :$eWashington, D.C.) 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910792440703321 996 $aMeasures of health literacy$93686533 997 $aUNINA
