Early modern English drama was conditioned by the environmental events of the cities and landscapes within which it developed. Boehrer introduces Jacobean London as the first modern European metropolis in an England beset by problems of overpopulation; depletion of resources and species; land, water and air pollution; disease and other health-related issues; and associated changes in social behavior and cultural output. In six chapters he discusses the work of the most productive and influential playwrights of the day: Shakespeare, Jonson, Middleton, Fletcher, Dekker and Heywood, exploring the strategies by which they made sense of radical ecological change in their drama. In the process, Boehrer sketches out these playwrights' differing responses to environmental issues and traces their legacy for later literary formulations of green consciousness. 606 $aEnglish drama$y17th century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aEnvironmental degradation in literature 606 $aHuman ecology in literature 615 0$aEnglish drama$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aEnvironmental degradation in literature. 615 0$aHuman ecology in literature. 676 $a822/.309355 700 $aBoehrer$b Bruce Thomas$0740384 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910465376403321 996 $aEnvironmental degradation in Jacobean drama$92491011 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03327nam 22006614a 450 001 9910792239403321 005 20230617011941.0 010 $a0-19-518432-7 010 $a1-280-83840-X 010 $a0-19-803626-4 010 $a1-4294-3827-4 035 $a(CKB)2560000000300293 035 $a(EBL)422604 035 $a(OCoLC)476258298 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000271270 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11248178 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000271270 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10294946 035 $a(PQKB)11455035 035 $a(StDuBDS)EDZ0000024354 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC422604 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL422604 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10233658 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL83840 035 $a(EXLCZ)992560000000300293 100 $a20041230d2005 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aWhite collar Zen$b[electronic resource] $eusing Zen principles to overcome obstacles and achieve your career goals /$fSteven Heine 210 $aOxford ;$aNew York, N.Y. $cOxford University Press$d2005 215 $a1 online resource (209 p.) 300 $aIncludes index. 311 $a0-19-516003-7 311 $a0-19-985027-5 327 $aGame plan -- Mountains are mountains: roots of everyday stress -- Introduction: applying Zen -- Zen and professional leadership -- The power of Zen -- Mountains are not mountains: transforming conflict into opportunity -- Everybody must get foxed -- The greater the doubt, the greater the enlightenment -- Seeing the forest, but not missing the trees -- Mountains are mountains, again: from structure to anti-structure -- Returning to the marketplace -- All's well that ends well -- Coming from nowhere to somewhere -- Glossary -- Appendix: Koan translation ("Te-shan carrying his bundle"). 330 $aIt is said that in traditional Japan the samurai embraced Zen because it helped them to be fearless in adversity, to act quickly and decisively, and to keep focused on their ultimate goal. In White Collar Zen, Steven Heine shows how, by applying Zen principles in our working lives, we can achieve the same results for ourselves. Heine describes the way Zen embraces two different yet harmonious paths. The Way of the Hermit teaches detachment--the mental clarity you need to view your situation dispassionately and impartially, to perceive who is an ally and who is a competitor, to understand wha 606 $aManagement$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism 606 $aLeadership$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism 606 $aBusiness$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism 606 $aInterpersonal relations$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism 606 $aOrganizational behavior$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism 615 0$aManagement$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism. 615 0$aLeadership$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism. 615 0$aBusiness$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism. 615 0$aInterpersonal relations$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism. 615 0$aOrganizational behavior$xReligious aspects$xBuddhism. 676 $a650.1 700 $aHeine$b Steven$f1950-$01118239 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910792239403321 996 $aWhite collar Zen$93796335 997 $aUNINA
