The capacity of iron sulfur clusters to accept and delocalize single electrons is explained by basic chemical principles, which illustrate why iron sulfur proteins are uniquely suitable for electron transport and other activities. Techniques used for detection and stabilization of iron-sulfur clusters, including EPR and Mossbauer spectroscopies, are discussed because they are important for characterizing unrecognized and elusive iron sulfur proteins. Recent insights into how nitrogenase works have arisen from multiple advances, described here, including studies of high-resolution crystal structures. Numerous chapters discuss how microbes, plants, and animals synthesize these complex prosthetic groups, and why it is important to understand the chemistry and biogenesis of iron sulfur proteins. In addition to their vital importance in mitochondrial respiration, numerous iron sulfur proteins are important in maintenance of DNA integrity. Multiple rare human diseases with different clinical presentations are caused by mutations of genes in the iron sulfur cluster biogenesis pathway. Understanding iron sulfur proteins is important for understanding a rapidly expanding group of metabolic pathways important in all kingdoms of life, and for understanding processes ranging from nitrogen fixation to human disease. 606 $aIron-sulfur proteins 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aIron-sulfur proteins. 676 $a612.3/924 686 $aWD 5050$2rvk 702 $aRouault$b Tracey A. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910459722103321 996 $aIron-Sulfur Clusters in Chemistry and Biology$91504563 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04546oam 2201069M 450 001 9910791734703321 005 20240102235754.0 010 $a1-78170-220-9 010 $a1-84779-294-4 024 7 $a10.7765/9781847792945 035 $a(OCoLC)818847394 035 $a(OCoLC)ocn818847394 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC1069636 035 $a(DE-B1597)659704 035 $a(DE-B1597)9781847792945 035 $a(CKB)2560000000085668 035 $a(EXLCZ)992560000000085668 100 $a20121120d2007 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurunu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aCultures of violence $elynching and racial killing in South Africa and the American South /$fIvan Evans 210 $aManchester $cManchester University Press$d2007 215 $a1 online resource (316 pages) 311 08$aPrint version: Evans, Ivan. Instead it convincingly contrasts the?lynch culture? of the American South to the?bureaucratic culture of violence? in South Africa. By contrasting mobs of rope-wielding white Southerners to the gun-toting policemen and administrators who formally defended white supremacy in South Africa, *Cultures of violence* employs racial killing as an optic for examining. 606 $aLynching$zSouthern States$xHistory 606 $aCrime and race$zSouth Africa$xHistory 606 $aDiscrimination in criminal justice administration$zSouthern States$xHistory 606 $aDiscrimination in criminal justice administration$zSouth Africa$xHistory 606 $aLynching$zSouth Africa$xHistory 606 $aViolence$xSocial aspects$zSouthern States$xHistory 606 $aViolence$xHistory$xSocial aspects$zSouth Africa 606 $aRacism$zSouthern States$xHistory 606 $aRacism$zSouth Africa$xHistory 606 $aRace discrimination$zSouthern States$xHistory 606 $aRace discrimination$zSouth Africa$xHistory 606 $aCrime and race$zSouthern States$xHistory 607 $aSouthern States$xRace relations 607 $aSouth Africa$xRace relations 610 $aAmerican South. 610 $aSouth Africa. 610 $abureaucratic culture. 610 $alynch culture. 610 $arace relations. 610 $aracial killing. 610 $aracial state. 610 $aracial violence. 610 $awhite Southerners. 610 $awhite supremacy. 615 0$aLynching$xHistory. 615 0$aCrime and race$xHistory. 615 0$aDiscrimination in criminal justice administration$xHistory. 615 0$aDiscrimination in criminal justice administration$xHistory. 615 0$aLynching$xHistory. 615 0$aViolence$xSocial aspects$xHistory. 615 0$aViolence$xHistory$xSocial aspects 615 0$aRacism$xHistory. 615 0$aRacism$xHistory. 615 0$aRace discrimination$xHistory. 615 0$aRace discrimination$xHistory. 615 0$aCrime and race$xHistory. 676 $a364.1523089 700 $aEvans$b Ivan Thomas$f1957-$01207229 801 0$bEBLCP 801 1$bEBLCP 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bYDXCP 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bDEBSZ 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bXFH 801 2$bOCLCO 801 2$bOCLCF 801 2$bZCU 801 2$bOCLCA 801 2$bMERUC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bICG 801 2$bAU@ 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bDKC 801 2$bOCLCQ 801 2$bHS0 801 2$bOCLCO 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910791734703321 996 $aCultures of violence$93828547 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01408cam0-2200337 --450 001 9910349658603321 005 20240827100754.0 010 $a978-88-6342-902-2 100 $a20191128d2016----kmuy0itay5050 ba 101 0 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $a 001yy 200 1 $aDemocrazie e religioni$elibertą religiosa, diversitą e convivenza nell' Europa del 21. secolo$eatti del Convegno nazionale ADEC, Trento, 22-23 ottobre 2015$fa cura di Erminia Camassa 210 $aNapoli$cEditoriale scientifica$d2016 215 $aXVII, 430 p.$d23 cm 225 1 $aQuaderni della Facoltą di giurisprudenza dell'Universitą degli studi di Trento$v21 300 $aTesti in italiano o in inglese 300 $aIn copertina: Universitą degli studi di Trento, Facoltą di giurisprudenza 300 $aAltra edizione: ISBN 9788884435552 (digitale) 610 0 $aLibertą religiosa$aEuropa$aDiritto$aAtti di congressi 676 $a342.0852$v23$zita 702 1$aCamassa,$bErminia 712 02$aADEC$c 712 01$aUniversitą degli studi di Trento$b: Facoltą di giurisprudenza 801 0$aIT$bUNINA$gREICAT$2UNIMARC 901 $aBK 912 $a9910349658603321 952 $aCONGR.
